A three-year-old girl who tried to walk to her Nan’s house during a blistering heatwave has been safely reunited with her family.
The little girl was spotted by locals at shops on Moreton Bay Road, in Capalaba in Brisbane’s south-east, about midday on Wednesday.
In heartwarming bodycam footage, a male officer is seen giving the girl fist bumps before encouraging her to drink a cup of water at a local café.
‘Who did your hair today? It looks very pretty,’ the office tells her.
‘Here have a sip of this, get some hydration, some more energy.’
The little girl was then loaded into the back of a police car and driven home.
She gave the general duties officer a final fist bump before going inside.
Senior Sergeant David Candale from Capalaba Station said delivering the little girl safely to her home was a great outcome.
The little girl had been attempting to walk to her Nan’s house before she got lost during the sweltering conditions.
‘No day is the same as a Queensland police officer, we deal with jobs big and small,’ Sgnt Candale said.
‘Our officers were all too happy to help deliver the girl back home.’
