Visitors to a ‘restaurant in the sky’ got the scare of a lifetime when their elevated eatery appeared to give way – leaving shocked diners fearing for their lives.
The terrifying incident occurred at a concept restaurant in San Juan, Puerto Rico on Sunday as a group of guests sat suspended more than 100 feet in the air.
Footage taken by one diner showed the platform operated by FlyDining appear to buckle as guests screamed in horror high above the ground.
The diner recording the clip, Rayshun Bowers, who was in the Puerto Rican capital to celebrate her 41st birthday.
‘We literally almost lost our lifes!!’ she wrote in post on Facebook that included the video.
‘In mid air at 100 feet the cable SNAPPED! In that moment, all I could do was pray and tell everyone to stay calm.’
In a separate video, another diner was seen pointing her camera toward the ground below and asking, ‘Who signed me up for this?’
Within seconds, the clip showed, the platform became unstable.
‘Oh Lord, it’s … oh, oh, of my f****** God,’ she said before the recording stopped.
FlyDining franchise owner Scott Zuckerman told El Nuevo Dia that there was no risk to the 13 guests or staff, who were safely lowered to the ground.
‘A minor incident occurred where a safety rope used for wind protection was released, causing slight movement that led to the roof of the platform to make contact with the boom of the crane,’ FlyDining Puerto Rico said in a statement posted on Instagram shortly after the incident Sunday.
‘There were no structural failures or safety risks, and all systems remained secure.’
The restaurant also said an investigation was underway.
‘We will remain closed until all inspections are completed and cleared by third-party specialists,’ it said.
‘Safety remains out top priority, and we are committed to maintaining the highest operational standards.’
DailyMail.com’s attempts to reach FlyDining Puerto Rico’s management staff went unanswered.
‘What was supposed to be a celebration turned into a life-changing experience,’ Bowers added in her Facebook post.
‘I’m beyond grateful for His protection—this birthday will never be forgotten!’
FlyDining’s Puerto Rican franchise first opened in January 2024 and is located in the Santurce are of San Juan.
The restaurant’s platform can be suspended as high as 160 feet off the ground and offers diver different dining times, from breakfast to dinner.
