alert-–-haven’t-we-seen-this-somewhere-before?-viewers-highlight-similarities-between-meghan’s-recipes-and-scenes-to-other-shows-as-her-new-cookery-show-airs-on-netflixAlert – Haven’t we seen this somewhere before? Viewers highlight similarities between Meghan’s recipes and scenes to other shows as her new cookery show airs on Netflix

Meghan Markle’s highly anticipated new cooking show ‘With Love, Meghan’ finally aired on Netflix this morning – and it has everybody talking.

The programme sees the Duchess of Sussex inviting famous friends to a California estate where she shares cooking, gardening and hosting tips.

Fans had been waiting months for the show to grace their screens with many hoping to transform their culinary skills and become the ultimate ‘domestic goddess’.

But, following today’s launch, eagle-eyed viewers have highlighted a string of similarities between the Duchess’ recipes and others they have seen before.

Some compared her ‘Ladybug Caprese Bruschetta’ to similar recipes while others spotted a likeness to a YouTube cooking show hosted by the Marchioness of Bath.

They were also featured on the ‘Diary of a Mad Hausfrau’ travel and food blog back in July 2016.

Meghan’s beekeeping was also noted for being one of Kate Middleton’s favourite hobbies.

Kate is known to make her own honey – while Queen Camilla is also a keen apiarist, and keeps bees at Raymill, her six-bedroom retreat in Lacock, Wiltshire.

Camilla is also president of Bees For Development, a charity protecting bee habitats in more than 50 countries; while Buckingham Palace is home to four beehives on an island in a lake in the garden, and there are two hives in Clarence House’s garden.

One viewer tweeted: ‘If anyone wanted to read between the lines, this is yet another opportunity for Netflix, Reed Hastings and Markle to continue trolling the British monarchy, since all Meghan is trying to do is to imitate an English lifestyle, dressing and keeping bees like Catherine.’

Another wrote that it was ‘something the King, Prince William and Princess Catherine been doing for years – no, a beekeeper she’s not. Copied that off the royals.’

And a third said: ‘And you know who keeps bees? Princess Catherine at her home in Amner Hall. It’s one of her passions. Meghan has never had an original idea ever.’

The new show promises an intimate ‘at home’ experience with the royal, 43, but she has in fact chosen to film the eight-episode series in a home that isn’t her own.

In one clip from the kitchen of the rented £5million reality TV Montecito mansion where the show is set, Meghan, who tells viewers she’ll share ‘some little tips and tricks’, makes a ‘Ladybug’-themed appetiser.

However, viewers noted that recipes for the dish have been around since 2015 on dozens of food blogs and Pinterest pages.

They also feature in the US lifestyle magazine First For Women in 2018 and the popular TikTok account Home Cooks World in 2023.

Meanwhile other viewers have compared scenes from the show to those in the YouTube cooking program ‘Emma’s Kitchen’ hosted by marchioness and chef Emma Weymouth.

The Celebrity MasterChef contestant – formally known as Emma Thynn, Marchioness of Bath – posts videos of her creations after launching the brand in 2015 using the backdrop of the original kitchens within Longleat House.

One observer tweeted similar still images from each show, writing: ‘Emma Weymouth, Marchioness of Bath, has had a cooking programme at Longleat estate for nine years!’

Another viewer said: ‘Why is Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex trying to channel Emma Thynn, Marchioness of Bath? TBH, Emma seems more natural while Meghan often seems like she’s acting from a script. I think Meghan should focus strictly on charity work.’

A third added: ‘This woman has no original idea! This is a copy of Emma’s Kitchen!.’ And a fourth tweeted: ‘Very much like Emma’s Kitchen on YouTube.

During the eight-part show, Meghan boasts about how it was a ‘real delight and luxury’ to be a ‘present parent’ while making a rainbow-themed fruit salad.

Placing fruits such as grapes, blueberries and strawberries on a chopping board before declaring ‘you don’t have to do a big platter of this… you could do this with one small row for your kids for breakfast’.

‘It makes the morning a lot more fun’, said the mother-of-two, before adding: ‘Can I just show you? If you just made one.’

However, the artful display appears to be an identical copy of one shared by food blogger, Meg Quinn, in March 2024, which uses the same fruits and design.

The Duchess also shares a similar sort of ‘taco bar’ plate of nibbles, which was shared by Ms Quinn in her blog in April of last year.

Similarities were also drawn between the Duchess’s love of flowers and that of sister-in-law, Pippa Middleton’s.

Pippa, whose sister Kate is married to Prince William, spoke of her love to pick the best bouquets at New Covent Garden Flower Market back in September 2013.

A picture of the now 41-year-old – who is married to billionaire hedge-fund manager James Matthews – shows her beaming as the plucks plants from the garden.

In Meghan’s show, the Duchess of Sussex appears to do something similar, picking fresh herbs from the garden of the rented £5million mansion she is using as a base.

And the mother-of-two may have also sought inspiration from social media for her fancy-looking ice cubes, infused with edible petals.

The designs appear widely across photo-sharing site, Pinterest.

While other observers have drawn parallels in the look and feel of the Duchess’s show to that of Pamela Anderson’s programme, Cooking With Love, which aired last month.

Critics claim a trailer advertising mother-of-two Meghan’s show seems to be a ‘straight copy’ of the Baywatch star’s own lifestyle programme clip, which was released in October 2024, just months before Meghan’s.

However, defenders of the Duchess insist the closeness of the release dates, and the tight production schedules, could only mean any similarities in the shows are coincidental, rather than deliberate.

From the similar aesthetic, titles and wardrobes to the familiar phrases and actions, frustrated fans took to X to point out all the ways in which they believe Meghan appears to have ‘copied’ Pamela’s concepts.

Royal sources have said the programme could be a make-or-break moment for Meghan and husband Prince Harry as they seek to salvage a $100million deal with the streaming giant.

Since Harry and Meghan signed the mega deal in 2020, there has been one smash hit and three relative duds, sparking speculation Netflix might soon cut ties.

The biographical ‘Harry & Meghan’ was the streaming service’s biggest documentary debut, viewed in almost 29 million households in its first four days, and proved a global sensation.

But Polo, a sports docuseries, Live to Lead – which focused on ‘global justice activists’ – and Heart of Invictus, about Harry’s games for wounded soldiers, proved lacklustre additions that failed to set the streaming service’s viewing figures ablaze.

‘With Love, Meghan’ sees the duchess trying to promote herself in a new way as a ‘domestic goddess’, baking cakes, arranging flowers and slipping into a beekeeper’s suit to collect honey.

However, in Los Angeles where Meghan and Harry live with their two children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, three, sources have said the Sussexes relationship with Netflix is on borrowed time, amid claims they have proven hard to work with.

‘The word bandied around internally is ‘nightmare’,’ one insider told the Sunday Times, with others claiming the chances of a deal being renewed would rest squarely on whether or not ‘With Love, Meghan’ proved a hit.

Unlike Polo, where the Sussexes had only a fleeting cameo, Meghan, 43, will be take centre stage in her new show, with Harry, 40, featuring in the background.

The former Suits star-turned-royal will also have the support of her celebrity pals, like close friend and fellow actress Abigail Spencer and the comedian Mindy Kaling, who both feature in the eight-part series.

And its hoped the show could be a big platform for the Sussexes’ future leisure brand, ‘As Ever’, to launch from, which will sell items like jams, tea, pet products and soaps in shops owned by Netflix.

Sources say the success or failure of her products in the Netflix House superstores will would be pivotal in determining future Meghan’s entrepreneurial ambitions.

‘This is make or break for Meghan,’ one source previously told . ‘Her new show is rolling out the same time as the Netflix stores open.

‘The Netflix stores will offer products and merchandise from all their biggest shows like Squid Game and Stranger Things.

‘This is a big move for Netflix. The first stores are in repurposed department stores inside two of America’s largest malls.

‘They will contain an onsite cafe so Meghan’s products like her strawberry jam will be featured on the menu too.

‘This will determine the future for Meghan as a businesswoman. Let’s face it, she hasn’t been that successful so far.’

Meghan and Harry, who left royal life five years ago, have not had a stellar start to 2025.

Rumours have reportedly swirled about the state of the pair’s marriage after they attended events separately, although they were photographed looking happy together at last month’s Invictus Games in Canada.

Speaking to People magazine ahead of the release of her series the 43-year-old royal said filming her new show had helped her to rediscover her creativity – and that it had reignited ‘a spark’ in Harry’s eye.

‘It’s almost like a honeymoon period again because it’s exactly how it was in the beginning when he’d watch me scribbling away, writing newsletters, fine-tuning edits and just really being in the details of it,’ she told People magazine.

‘I think he loves watching as much as I love doing that creative process. It’s just been fun. This is who I’ve always been.’

Previously, the duchess had a significant setback when her $20 million Spotify podcast series was cancelled with Spotify executive Bill Simmons describing Meghan and husband Prince Harry as ‘grifters.’

The couple’s $100 million five-year Netflix deal expires later this year and insiders believe it will not be renewed.

The source said: ‘If Meghan’s show is a massive hit and she sells tons of products off the back of it then maybe Netflix will reconsider but at this stage it’s all about them supporting her show and then quietly letting the contract run its course.’
