A 60 year-old suffered a murder so brutal the car she was killed in dripped with blood afterwards, police say.
Kimberly Hyde, 60, was found stabbed in the back of her car in Vernal, Utah, on October 8 – a day after vanishing from her home in Roosevelt, 40 miles away.
Police documents seen by ABC4 say ‘blood was dripping out of (Hyde’s) car and pooling up on the ground underneath.’
She had been ‘bound’ suffered deep stab wounds cops believe ‘appeared to inflict as much damage as possible to ensure the death of the victim.’
Hyde’s suspected killer is her neighbor Henry Resuera, 37, who has fled to the Philippines. An unidentified juvenile is also suspected of involvement in the case.
The grim police report on Hyde’s death say she was found ‘bound’ in her car to restrict her final movements and that she died from ‘apparent blunt force trauma to her face and neck.’
A medical examiner says Hyde ‘bled out slowly from her wounds.’
No motive for the appalling murder has been shared. Cops have now revealed that Hyde spent part of her final day running errands with Resuera’s wife.
The two were friends. The women spent the morning nad early afternoon of October 7 together.
Later that afternoon, a man believed to be Henry Resuera was seen on camera driving Hyde’s car, followed by his own Dodge.
Both cars were seen driving around Vernal that evening, with Vernal’s husband Michael reporting her missing after he came home from work.
Her body was discovered the next morning.
Police remained quiet on the circumstances and causes of Hyde’s death for the first few days of their probe.
That sparked terror in the sleepy and remote towns of Roosevelt and Vernal
According to the probable cause filings, Henry Resuera was seen walking towards Hyde’s home with a bag of items and a hat at around 2pm, while his wife and Hyde were still out.
The two women returned at approximately 2:30pm, before Hyde texted Resuera’s wife 15 minutes later that she ‘has to go (Vernal) again.’
Hyde’s car was then seen driving back and forth from Vernal several times from around 4:30pm, and at 5pm a small man wearing a hat – later identified as Resuera – was seen driving Hyde’s car.
A juvenile member of Resuera’s family later told police that Resuera had ordered him to meet him in Vernal that evening but wouldn’t say why, and was told to follow Hyde’s vehicle in Resuera’s dodge.
At one stage, Resuera left Hyde’s vehicle and got into the dodge with the juvenile, before he told the juvenile that he had killed Hyde, police said.
The exact nature of the juvenile’s relationship to Resuera is not clear, and authorities have not said if they expect to charge the minor with any crimes.
After leaving Hyde’s vehicle, the juvenile told police that Resuera ‘tasked’ him with driving him to Salt Lake City Airport, where he then flew to the Philippines, his native country.
Hyde’s husband returned home around 6:12pm and reported his wife missing at 8pm, with Hyde’s body and car found early the next morning.
When investigators interviewed Resuera’s family members, they allegedly told them that ‘Henry had disclosed to them that he had killed Kimberly Hyde.’
The family gave details that were not known to the public, and said they were afraid of Resuera following previous episodes of domestic violence that had not been reported to police.
Following the release of the probable cause documents, investigators said they believes Resuera’s ‘movements are consistent with the murder and disappearance of Kimberly Hyde.’
‘Furthermore, due to his wife being with [Hyde], he would know when [Hyde] was going to return home. Henry then confesses to his [family] that he killed [Hyde] and information was provided to them about the murder that was not publicly made available,’ they said.
Authorities are now attempting to locate Resuera in the Philippines and seek to charge him with aggravated murder, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery, and aggravated burglary.
Michael Hyde told Fox8 he has been left heartbroken by his wife’s murder, saying it is ‘hard now, being here all alone.’
‘It’s goodbye for now but not forever, and that helps keep me going.’
Michael said he and Kimberly had a strong relationship with Resuera and his family, often going to church and having dinners together.
Michael said to FOX8: ‘We had a good friendship, I thought, and it was really a shock.’
