Greg Rutherford’s fiancée Susie Verrill has revealed the real reason why he hasn’t explained details of his ‘painful’ Dancing On Ice injury after his ‘freak accident’.
The Dancing On Ice star, 37, missed the final after experiencing a significant injury the morning of rehearsals which saw him needing stitches.
He was rushed to hospital at the time – but is yet to reveal the truth about his ‘grim’ stomach injury.
His fiancée Susie has now tried to clear up rumours of what happened after Greg shared a clip of the dangerous skating move which led to his serious injury on Instagram.
Under the clip some fans took to the comments to ask what had really happened to him.

Susie has now said of the injury: ‘It really isn’t anything gory or horrifying; just very painful and a bit of a freak accident’
Susie replied to one and penned: ‘It really isn’t anything gory or horrifying; just very painful and a bit of a freak accident.
‘He hasn’t gone in to it because specialists have been working out how to pinpoint it/work out next steps so I think the show were keen not to say anything until they have official report back.’
She added: ‘Hope that clears it up!’
When one fan joked that the incident may have involved his private parts Susie replied: ‘No in fairness, it all sounded so suspicious we’re not surprised people wanted to know!’
On Sunday Greg shared a clip of the moment he suffered a serious injury in rehearsals which saw him miss out on the final.
In the clip, Greg could be seen diving through pro skaters’ legs and stated it was the point ‘where everything went wrong’.
He wrote: ‘Here we gooooo. This is the showcase we didn’t get the perform due to injury. The point where I dive through Colin and Brendyn’s legs is where everything went wrong last Sunday.
‘This is from either Friday or Saturday so I was still ironing out a few timings issues (which I’m sure you will notice).
Greg took to Instagram on Sunday to show fans the unseen performance that could have got him to victory if he didn’t have to pull out of the competition

After the injury Susie shared a snap of him in hospital and stated that ‘Resus is never a fun place to be’

‘I utterly loved this showcase. Everyone involved had worked so hard. Just look at the set too!! The guys behind the scenes never get enough credit, what they build in such a short amount of time is mind blowing.
‘To have @torvilanddeanofficial choreograph a full routine for us too was so special. I loved working with them.
‘Although I won’t be able to skate for maybe a couple of months. I intend on getting back on the ice and keeping it up. I really do love it.’
The Olympian was set to battle it all out against Ryan Thomas, Adele Roberts and Miles Nazaire for the trophy.

Taking to Instagram to thank fans for their ‘kind messages, Greg took a selfie from his bed and wrote: ‘Recovery sort of starts now…
‘After a pretty rough first night, I’m looking forward to getting everything sorted and sewn up so I can get back to normal. Thank you all so much for your kind messages.’
