Alabama Senator Katie Britt offered a contrast with President Joe Biden’s State of the Union speech, offering a softer rebuttal to the commander-in-chief’s agitated remarks Thursday.

The 42-year-old’s subdued response, where Britt pitched herself as understanding mothers and fathers across America compared to Biden’s often yelled address, drew a mixed reaction.

Liberals and the mainstream press slammed the address, with Puck News’ Julia Ioffe shockingly saying: ‘The acting chops on display here are somewhere between porn and high school play.’

Britt appeared on the verge of tears at times at her kitchen table, as she tore into the policies President Joe Biden emphatically defended, making an emotional appeal conservatives appeared to appreciate.

South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham wrote: ‘[Britt] was absolutely spot on and delivered a dynamite response to the [State of the Union].’

Liberals across the board called the speech everything from stilted to overly emotional to even creepy.

Lefty host of The View Joy Behar embodied that, writing: ‘Why does Katie Britt go from smiling to being on the verge of tears and then back to some scary Steven King character?’

Others slammed the choice of a kitchen as the setting for her speech, with anti-gun activist Shannon Watts saying: ‘Women of America: Republicans had Sen. Katie Britt deliver that speech from her kitchen because that’s where they think women belong.’

Behar’s conservative co-host on The View and former Trump staffer Alyssa Farah Griffin appeared to agree.

‘Senator Katie Britt is a very impressive person. She ran a hell of race in AL. I do not understand the decision to put her in a *KITCHEN* for one of the most important speeches she’s ever given.’

While he was critical, center-left pundit Tom Nichols felt Britt was effective in speaking to the Republican base.

‘Look, this Katie Britt address – breathy, theatrical, on the verge of tears – is completely weird, very coached and like a high school acting audition,’ Nichols said.

‘But you have to remember that these people know their base, and the base is going to *love* this.’

He appeared to be correct, as Senator Ted Cruz also posted in praise of his Senate colleague.

‘Congratulations to my friend and colleague @SenKatieBritt for showing Texans and Americans what Republicans really stand for—a strong economy, secure border, and good jobs for every American,’ he posted.

Tennessee’s Marsha Blackburn agreed, calling it ‘strong’ and saying: ‘Amid the litany of Biden’s failures, Republicans are working hard to get our nation back on track.’

The Alabama Republican was impassioned and visibly furious, but also optimistic, as she delivered her party’s official rebuttal to Biden from her kitchen.

The 42-year-old, who is married for former NFL linebacker Wesley Britt, slammed the president’s policies on immigration and economy and went after his age and fitness for office.

‘The American Dream has turned into a nightmare,’ she said.

Britt delivered heartbreaking stories about sexual assault of a girl trafficked and repeatedly raped at the southern border and the recent tragedy of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley, 22, who was murdered by an illegal immigrant released into the country with undocumented status in 2022.

‘Ya’ll, as a mom, I can’t quit thinking about this,’ the emotional mother-of-two said in her rebuttal. ‘I mean, this could have been my daughter. This could have been your’s.’

Britt tore into Biden's defense of her border and economic policies ¿ delivering heartbreaking illegal immigration-related stories and saying he is out of touch. 'The American people are scraping by while President Biden proudly proclaims that Bidenomics is working. Goodness ya'll, bless his heart. We know better'

Goodness ya’ll, bless his heart. We know better’

‘And tonight, President Biden finally said her name,’ she added. ‘But he refused to take responsibility for his own actions. Mr. President – enough is enough. Innocent Americans are dying and you only have yourself to blame.’

She said the American dream has now ‘turned into a nightmare.’

Britt sat at a spot at her family’s kitchen table in Birmingham, Alabama on Thursday night for the rebuttal remarks to Biden’s speech where she discussed kitchen table issues with tuned-in Americans.

Specifically she discussed the disconnect Biden has with his economic policies and how they actually impact average Americans.

‘The American people are scraping by while President Biden proudly proclaims that Bidenomics is working,’ she said, then added on the southern insult of: ‘Goodness ya’ll, bless his heart. We know better.’

The rising Republican star who was elected to her seat at age 40 brought up Biden’s age, which she nearly halves as she insisted he cannot relate to the average American today and is therefore out of touch with how to lead the nation forward.

Britt said the 81-year-old doesn’t understand the economic plights of American families as he pushes his Bidenomics agenda.

‘What we saw was the performance of a permanent politician, who has actually been in office longer than I’ve been alive,’ she said of the president’s speech. ‘One thing was quite clear, though – President Biden is out of touch.’

‘Let’s be honest, it’s been a minute since Joe Biden pumped gas, ran a carpool or even pushed a grocery cart,’ Britt added later in her less than 20-minute remarks. ‘Meanwhile, the rest of us see our dollar and we know it doesn’t go as far. We see it every day.’

Notably, Britt’s state has been under a microscope lately after the Alabama Supreme Court ruled that fertilized eggs for In Vitro fertilization (IVF) are classified as a human life.

This decision has led to mass confusion over how clinics should handle these eggs in Alabama – especially in light of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade in June 2022. Alabama was a state with trigger laws, meaning once the decision was overruled, abortion became essentially totally illegal in the southern red state.

Biden brought up this conundrum in his remarks earlier on Thursday evening and called out the Supreme Court justices – six of whom were attending his speech – for the decision that put an end to nationwide rights for a woman to receive an abortion.

‘This is the United States of America and it is past time, in my opinion, that we start acting like it,’ Britt said in her rebuttal.

‘President Biden’s border policies are a disgrace. This crisis is despicable. And the truth is, it is almost entirely preventable,’ she added. ‘From fentanyl poisonings to horrific murders, there are empty chairs tonight at kitchen tables just like this one because of President Biden’s senseless border policies.’

‘Right now, our commander-in-chief is not in command,’ she said in closing her remarks. ‘The free world deserves better than a dithering and diminished leader.’

‘America deserves leaders who recognize that secure borders, stable prices, safe streets and a strong defense are actually the cornerstones of a great nation.’

The GOP’s rising star won her Senate seat in 2022 after serving as a long-time staffer of outgoing Alabama Sen. Richard Shelby.

Britt is the first woman to hold an Alabama Senate seat and at 42, the youngest Republican woman to be elected to the Senate.

Trump had endorsed Britt in her 2022 primary after flipping on former Rep. Mo Brooks, who he’d first endorsed.

Speaker Mike Johnson noted Britt is the ‘only current Republican mom of school-aged kids serving in the Senate.’

Britt is married to former NFL player Wesley Britt and they have two children together.

‘She is a champion for strong families, a secure border, national defense and a vibrant economy with stable prices and opportunities for all. The American people will tune in as the youngest Republican woman ever elected to the Senate turns the page on the oldest President in history,’ Johnson said of the Alabama senator.

In 2023 Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders delivered the rebuttal and the year before that Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds did the same. In 2021, it was South Carolina Republican Sen. Tim Scott and in 2020 Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer rebutted  Trump’s remarks.
