A little girl from Colorado has been moved to end-of-life care after a freak accident which saw her strangle herself on her swing set.
Five year-old Aurora Masters’ family say the youngster has suffered fatal brain damage and that they are preparing to switch off her life support machine after the accident earlier this week. Her organs will be donated.
Aurora, from Fort Collins, moved her small plastic slide close to her swing while playing in the garden of her family’s well-kept home.
But when she went down the slide, she ended up getting her neck caught in the ropes of her swing.
Her brain was starved of oxygen, with doctors at the Children’s Hospital Colorado in Aurora on Saturday breaking the terrible news that she will not survive.

A statement on behalf of Aurora’s parents Tom and Krystal Masters was posted to a GoFundMe page Saturday.
‘We had some tests done today to see where we are. Aurora was without oxygen and that caused her brain to swell. An MRI today confirmed that the swelling was significant enough that it will not go down and we have made the difficult decision to transition Aurora to end-of-life care and organ donation,’ wrote her great aunt, Brenda Kennedy.
‘At this time, we are looking into options to make her transition as easy as possible for her. Thank you all for your continued thoughts, prayers, and shares for our sweet baby girl. If you looked up last night, or you look up tonight, you will see our Miss Aurora putting on a beautiful show for you with the borealis,’ she wrote.
The family has rallied round the Masters with 19 members coming in from the states of Wyoming and Nebraska to be at Aurora’s bedside.
‘We do know the power of family,’ Kennedy said.

The family have struggled to understand how the accident occurred,
But it appears to have happened while the youngster was innocently playing on her own outside.
‘She pulled her little plastic slide over to where her swing was and somehow got caught up in the swing, and the swing strangled her’, aunt Kennedy told Fox 31.
‘Her oxygen was limited as a result of the injury,’ the family explained.
