Holiday lovers have swarmed to Home Depot to get their hands on the jumbo red, white, and green LED light bulbs that have been all over TikTok.

But these bright lights come with a hidden price, with some social media users saying high costs have steered them away from buying the over-the-top decorations.

Home Depot has the three-foot-tall lights listed for a reasonable $25 each, but people have called out the underlying expenses that come with them.

The bulbs are battery-powered and customers must buy D batteries separately. According to Home Depot, each decoration needs three batteries.

’25 bucks for the lights….100 bucks for the batteries this Christmas season,’ one TikTok user commented on a video about the lights.

People can buy four D Cell batteries for about $11, but if avid decorators want to buy more than one bulb, the cost of batteries can pile up.

Some tutorial videos have been shared online, showing fans how to make them ‘plug in’ and electric powered, instead of using batteries.

One TikTok commenter shared her husband was able to make the light electric powered.

Although electric-powered decorations may be more convenient, this could also increase costs around the holidays.

In 2022, electric bills of the average household increased by $16.48 because of decorations, USA Today reported.

Costs aside, many users were keen to get their hands on the festive decorations.

One TikTok user gushed: ‘The Jumbo Christmas Bulbs from Home Depot did not disappoint, I love them so much!!’

Another agreed: ‘Omg I’m obsessed!!’

In a video posted by TikToker Jodi Lytle, who posts hauls of her exciting retail finds, she excitedly shopped around Home Depot and got all three colors of the giant bulbs.

‘These things are so cute,’ she exclaimed.

This season, Home Depot also brought back a fan-favorite holiday decoration, leaving shoppers thrilled.

Hitting shelves once again is the Grand Duchess Twinkling Balsam Fir Tree, which went mega-viral last year on social media.

In videos that got millions of views, influencers gushed over how beautiful the pre-lit artificial Christmas trees looked in their homes.

The trees come in three different sizes – 7.5 feet, 9 feet and 12 feet – though all the 12-footers appear to be sold out. Shoppers also have the option to buy a full tree – which has more branches – or a slim tree that might fit better in a tight area.

A full 7.5-foot tree costs $349, while a full 9-footer costs $499.

‘Truly the most beautiful tree I’ve ever seen! It has colored lights too if that’s your vibe,’ one TikTok user raved about the tree.
