A Georgia family shockingly discovered what police believe to be the remains of a missing Alabama woman in their front yard.

Several bones found on the family’s lawn in northwest Georgia have been identified as parts of a human skeleton, tentatively belonging to Timaya Williams, 23, who was reported missing in Montgomery, Alabama in June 2024, according to the Walker County Sheriff’s Office.

The homeowner called local authorities shortly after the grisly discovery on the night of December 26 in the Cooper Heights area, about a 225-mile drive from Williams’ home. An animal had brought the bones to their yard.

An exhaustive search for the rest of the skeleton involved Walker County detectives, deputies, the deputy coroner and a cadaver K-9 team from the Rhea County Sheriff’s Office.

The search continued before the canine-led team located the rest of the remains.

The remains were taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab for an autopsy. Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson believes Williams’ death to be a suicide, after her vehicle was found abandoned in the area.

The young woman’s mother, Yaschia Williams, first reported her daughter missing in early June after she failed to return home.

The worried mom last saw her daughter in surveillance footage showing her leaving their home on June 2 around noon.

‘I am desperately seeking help for my daughter, Timaya Williams, who has been missing since June 2, 2024,’ she wrote on a GoFundMe page organized to help raise funds to find her missing daughter.

‘Despite my timely report to the police, they dismissed her disappearance, assuming she simply ran away, even though she left her room untouched, indicating she intended to return.’

Her mother disclosed that her daughter did have a known mental health-related condition, but her added that she has never been in any trouble.

‘I wasn’t alarmed because I assumed that she would be coming back, and when I returned home on the following day, I was calling and asking her, “Hey are you okay?” and I didn’t get an answer,’ Yaschia told WAKA News in August.

‘I was trying to locate her through Find My Phone and I couldn’t, so I immediately reported her missing.’

Williams was last seen driving a blue four-door Dodge Avenger with a black ram’s head on the driver’s side door, according to police.

The vehicle was found abandoned along Highway 193 in early June and was later towed after being left for more than a week, according to the Walker County Sheriff’s Office.

Montgomery authorities said they had not entered the vehicle into the National Crime Information Center database.

The worried mother organized the fundraiser with hopes to find a reputable investigator willing to take on her daughter’s mysterious disappearance.

‘As a working-class mother with no extensive social network, I am heartbroken and lost without my only child,’ she wrote on the page.

‘While several organizations have offered support, I have been advised to hire a private investigator, but funding is a significant barrier, as I have no financial assistance available,’ she added.

No foul play is suspected at this time, and the case remains under investigation.
