George Clooney dressed down in blue jeans for a screening of his 10th feature directorial effort The Boys in the Boat, which took place Wednesday at New York City’s Museum of Modern Art.
The 62-year-old filmmaker replaced Kenneth Branagh as the producer and director of the big-screen adaptation of Daniel James Brown’s 2013 non-fiction novel, which hits US theaters December 25 and UK theaters January 12.
The 1936-set biographical sports drama centers on the University of Washington crew – coached by Al Ulbrickson (Joel Edgerton) – that represented the United States in the men’s eight at the Summer Olympic games in Berlin.
George – who relies on stylist Jeanne Yang – paired his casual denim with a brown suede jacket over a black Polo shirt and matching leather shoes.
Missing from Clooney’s side on Wednesday was his wife of nine years, Amal Alamuddin, who glammed up in yellow Versace gown for the Beverly Hills premiere of his film on Monday.

‘My wife, who is a brilliant lawyer, she’s one of the great advocates of the world. She takes on Isis,’ the two-time Oscar winner told ExtraTV that day.
‘But I better be doing the cooking or we will all die.’
George told the outlet he’s going to serve the chef duties this holiday: ‘Like, I did a little Thanksgiving turkey. Hard to find a good one but I found a good one, so we’re going to do Christmas turkey this year.’
Clooney and the 45-year-old human rights lawyer are parents of six-year-old fraternal twins – son Alexander and daughter Ella – who still blissfully have no concept about fame or that their parents are famous.
Instead, cozying up to the Nespresso brand ambassador on the red carpet was actress Hadley Robinson, who portrays Joyce Simdars in The Boys in the Boat.
The 29-year-old Winning Time actress took the plunge in a black sheer top tucked into a velvet pencil skirt and oxblood sling-back heels selected by stylist Alexandra Imgruth.
George made sure to pose with the head of Amazon Studios, Jennifer Nicholson Salke, rocking a festive red ensemble and patterned silk scarf.
Clooney also posed with several members of his ensemble cast including Callum Turner, Courtney Henggeler, Luke Slattery, and Sam Strike.
