The internet has gone into pandemonium as England walk away victorious from their quarter final Euro 2024 clash with Switzerland.

The Three Lions got off to a slow start today as fans were quick to complain about a lack of goal scoring in the first 74 minutes.

Many bemoaned on social media, with hoards of fans poking fun at the match suggesting they were falling asleep.

However Bukayo Saka was quick to bring England’s hopes of bringing it home back from the grave in a stunning goal only minutes after Breel Embolo scored.

With traumatic history when it comes to penalties, football revelers were not looking forward to the prospect of battling it out with Switzerland in a shoot-out decider.

But after the Three Lions side walked away with a perfect scoring sheet, bagging a ticket into the semi-finals, fans went into meltdown.

Expressing their pure joy on X (formerly Twitter) after the whirlwind match droves of football revelers echoed the same message: ‘It’s coming home.’

Despite the extraordinary win, some were shocked the Three Lions managed to walk away victorious from a penalty shoot out following their plagued history.

‘England have won a penalty shoot out,’ penned a fan coupled with an image of a woman looking confusingly at a piece of paper.

Others were quick to poke fun at Switzerland’s goal keeper Yann Sommer, after he failed to save any of the goals against the English side.

England goalie Jordan Pickford was on top form when the shoot-out came round, so much so supporters are calling for him to be appointed Minister of Defence following his phenomenal quarter final performance.

Droves of Three Lions fans were quick to shower Saka with praise, branding him the ‘Man of The Match’ and a ‘star boy’. with others praising the squad for being ‘on form’.

Playing left-back during this quarter final clash, the Arsenal player managed to restore the dreams with some quipping how he was ‘destined for greatness’.

Fans compared him to sporting greats such as Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen whilst the tense football match raged on.

Certain Three Lions fans went as far as to suggest Saka was the best player on the team comparing him to a range Range Rover while suggesting the England side were a dilapidated shed.

Others posted snaps of men carrying people through a busy crowd, alongside the caption: ‘Saka carry[ing] the team’.

One supporter joked about using a flurry of phones to like all of the positive tweets flooding the social media platform about the footballer.

‘SAKAAA! what a banger of a rocket! Ironic how England’s first shot on target immediately turns into a goal,’ quipped another.

Football followers weren’t the only ones jumping for joy when the equalizing score landed.

Prince WIlliam was jumping for joy after the England player revived England’s European Championship hopes with the stunning late goal.

The Prince of Wales’ emotions were on full display as he punched the air as the Three Lions sent their quarter final versus Switzerland to extra time at the Dusseldorf Arena in western Germany.

Donning a navy suit and blue tie, the Prince, who is also the President of the FA, cheered on Gareth Southgate’s men as they reached a third tournament semi final in the manager’s tenure.

Prince William earlier joined guests including UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin in the stands for the rendition of ‘God Save the Kick’ before kick-off on Saturday evening.

Long-time football fan William was previously seen at England’s fixture against Denmark last month, joined by Danish King Frederik X.

Ross Kemp also sent fans into hysterics with his reaction to England’s Euros win against Switzerland on penalties today.

The EastEnders star roared with laughter as Trent Alexander-Arnold scored the winning kick for England in Dusseldorf this evening.

The clip of him celebrating came after he posted another video on X of him totally losing it when Bukayo Saka scored an equaliser in the second half.

Kemp yelled into the camera: ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry. It’s all over? Ooo noo. Ooo noo.

‘Saka, Saka, Saka, Saka. I love you England. I LOVE YOU!’

In his second video to celebrate the win, Kemp chanted: ‘Do not doubt who we are. Who we are, who we are.’

He added: ‘Thank you so much. How cool, how professional, you did it and we love you.’

However the match wasn’t all highs as many were bored to tears in the first 74 minutes of the match, with one social media user even posting an snap of a napping supporter in the stands.

‘The poor fella has had enough. Something needs to be done,’ they wrote.

Others posted images of people snoozing referencing the first half of the match, whilst other superimposed Southgate onto a meme of a man waiting on a park bench with the caption: ‘He’s waiting for a goal.’

However the match quickly ramped up, as England fans became fearful heading into penalties with Switzerland remembering how previous Euro 2020 dreams were dashed in a shoot out with Italy.

Despite their troubled past with penalties, Southgate’s squad emerged victorious with Saka bagging Man Of the Match.

They will now head to the semi-finals of the tournament, clutching to their dreams of a EURO 2024 title as they face off against the victor of the Turkey and Netherlands match.
