Emma Watkins has revealed her new gig has left her feeling a little older than her previous jobs working with young children.

The children’s entertainer and former Wiggles star, 35, traded in the yellow skivvy and is now interacting with an older audience.

Emma is now the host of the ABC series Teenage Boss: Next Level.

The show sees the presenter meet up with teens as they are put in charge of their family’s budget for an entire month.

Speaking with news.com.au of the show, Emma revealed that her presence often surprises the teen participants of the show.

‘When I’ve opened the door, I’ve seen a few shocked faces. Which is lovely … but it’s a reminder of how old you are,’ Emma said.

While she interacts with 15- to 17-year-olds on the show, which is now in its third series, Emma says that she is still recognised as a Wiggle by the older cohort.

‘I only really perform to under three-year-olds, and then in the middle [age group], sometimes I’m uncool. So now that we’ve skipped to an older age group, I’m actually nostalgic!’

The South n-filmed series is produced by McAvoy Media and aims to teach teenagers the ins and outs of responsible spending.

In 2022, Watkins shocked fans when she hung up her Yellow Wiggle costume after almost a decade in the world-famous children’s group.

The beloved entertainer revealed she had a ‘lovely’ conversation with her successor Tsehay Hawkins the night before she quit the band.

The entertainer spoke to news.com.au on Tuesday, revealing that her presence often surprises the teen participants of the show. 'When I've opened the door, I've seen a few shocked faces. Which is lovely ¿ but it's a reminder of how old you are,' Emma said

She said Tsehay was excited to be stepping into her shoes and the two ‘couldn’t be in a better position’ since they had already performed together.

‘I wasn’t probably thinking very much the night before, but I do remember speaking to Tsehay on the phone, which was so lovely,’ she told 7Life, explaining she had already spent a long time contemplating her decision to leave.

‘I guess I was ready for a new chapter, but I probably didn’t know if I was going to be ready or not.’

Since quitting the kids’ supergroup last year, the former Yellow Wiggle has created a new character, Emma Memma, which she unveiled in July 2022.

Her alter ego still features Watkins’ trademark curly hair, but she has dyed it red to match her bright orange dress and pink shirt.
