For $130 a night you can stay in a 98-year-old gas station!
A creative mother-daughter duo transformed a 1925 station into an adorable home for Airbnb guests.
Missy Meyer, 58, and her daughter Sarah Mensing, 24, showcased their creativity by turning an old Mobil gas station built in 1975 into a sweet home to host Airbnb guests for $130 a night.
From the outside the building still looks like a gas station – complete with red and white vintage gas pumps advertising Mobilgas and Mobilgas Special.
Inside the building is a home – with a double bedroom, fully stocked retro-vibe kitchen, a vast living room, an office and a bathroom that is much nicer than the average gas station restroom.

Meyer’s dad acquired the gas station property in 1998 and turned it into a ‘little weekend getaway,’ according to WCAX3.
The one-of-a-kind building is located in the tiny town of Peterson, Minnesota, which is home to less than 200 people.
Peterson spreads out across a mere 0.51 square mile area and is intersected by the Root River segment of the Blufflands State Trail – a popular spot for hikers and bikers.
The mother-daughter duo transformed the 600 square foot property into an Airbnb earlier this year – and they says it’s been a hit.
Guests agree, with one visitor calling the property a ‘cute little nook with interesting history’ and another saying they enjoyed ‘the nostalgia of the property being an old service station’.
Besides adding a shower – the gas station remains in its original form. ‘We still have the original hardwood floors that are oil-stained. We have the original furnace and light fixtures,’ said Mensing (pictured)

Another reviewer said that their stay at the gas station ‘really did feel like being at Grandma’s’. They said: ‘What a wonderful place – so much character! Small town, main street, peaceful, quiet, great front patio for sipping beverages, reading, and watching the world go by.’
Shawn stayed in the property in 2023 and said the ‘bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed sitting under the outside canopy with the vintage gas pumps light up at night.’
The Airbnb has earned a 4.86 rating with five starts for cleanliness, communication, location and check-in system.

Meyer said: ‘Believe it or not I’ve had people pull in thinking it was still a gas station.’
‘It is really crazy to think about,’ Meyer said. ‘Once in a while well get the neighbors to come over and tell their stories about what they remember of maybe getting candy at the gas station.’

Real estate records show that the gas station home at 223 Mill St was listed for sale in 2014 for $52,000 – but was removed in 2015.
The Airbnb listing says: ‘Located in a quiet little town in Minnesota, enjoy the unique stay at this old Mobil gas station built in 1925.
‘Outside you’ll find the original gas pumps (stopped at 37 cents!).
‘Inside the station is quaint space containing full kitchen and bathroom, queen size bed, and living room that will have you taking a step back to your grandparents house.
‘Surrounded by bluffs you will be staying just 2 blocks away from Root River bike trails.’
