A Las Vegas criminal who flung himself over the judge’s bench and attacked her last week appeared before her again on Monday to be sentenced to 19 to 48 months in prison.

Deobra Redden, 30, launched himself at Clark County District Judge Mary Kay Holthus on Wednesday with the words ‘nah f*** that b**ch’ as she rejected his pleas for more probation.

Now, he was brought back into Holthus’ courtroom in shackles, wearing a spit mask on his face and orange mitts on his hands, flanked by a group of jail officers.

He was sentenced up to four years in prison for a felony battery charge stemming from a baseball bat attack last year. The ‘flying felon’ was initially was charged with assault but reached a deal with prosecutors and pleaded guilty in November to a reduced charge of attempted battery resulting in substantial injuries.

Redden faces new felony charges for launching himself at the judge, who is considered a ‘protected person’ in Nevada, but refused to make an initial court appearance for the charges. He is expected back in court on Tuesday for a hearing related to these new charges, reported KTNV.

Court video showed Holthus fall back from her seat against a wall when Redden landed atop her and grabbed her hair, toppling an American flag onto them, as she begged him to stop before security staff managed to haul him off.

The marshal along with the judge attempt to dodge the attack, but Redden threw himself on top of both of them and began to brutally beat-up Holthus.

He was not shackled or in jail garb at his sentencing hearing on Wednesday because he had been released from custody as part of his plea deal.

Redden is being held in solitary confinement after admitting he assaulted her because he was having a ‘bad day.’

He will not have any interactions with other inmates and will eat alone inside his cell with extremely limited outside time while in solitary confinement.

He told correction officers ‘Judge has it out for me,’ after he was detained following the outburst, court documents state.

The felon allegedly added: ‘Judge is evil,’ before he apologized to the officers.

‘I’m sorry you guys had to see that,’ he said before reportedly asking another officer if what he did was wrong.

He allegedly spat in a corrections officer’s face while still inside the courthouse following the incident.

Holthus, who returned to work just one day after her head was slammed against the wall during the incident, told police Redden was ‘big, strong, and angry’.

Court marshal Shane Brandon, suffered a gash on his face that needed 25 stitches while law clerk Michael Lasso endured several minor hand abrasions.

Redden’s criminal record is marked by mostly violent offenses and includes prior convictions for three felonies and nine misdemeanors, District Attorney Steve Wolfson said.

‘He´s been violent his entire adult life,’ Wolfson said.

Redden had tried to convince the judge otherwise on Wednesday.

‘I´m not a rebellious person,’ he told her, adding that he didn’t think he should be sent to prison. ‘But if it´s appropriate for you, then you have to do what you have to do.’

Moments later, as the judge made it clear she intended to put him behind bars, and the court marshal moved to handcuff him and take him into custody. Redden yelled expletives and charged forward.

People who had been sitting with him in the courtroom audience, including his foster mother, began to scream.

Redden has a long criminal history involving charges in both Nevada and Texas. The 30-year-old has faced charges for battery, robbery, assault, injury to property and coercion, records show.

A judge had previously demanded that Redden undergo a competency determination. Records show he was evaluated and found competent to stand trial in the battery case before pleading guilty to the reduced charge.

Redden, who lives in Las Vegas, previously served prison time in Nevada on a domestic battery conviction, records show.

Holthus was a career prosecutor with more than 27 years of courthouse experience when she was elected to the state court bench in 2018.
