I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! has officially announced the first star  heading into the South African jungle on Sunday’s season premiere.

Matty ‘J’ Johnson confirmed on Wednesday morning he will be joining the 2025 line-up of contestants.

The Bachelor star, 37, joked it has been his lifelong dream to ‘survive’ in a jungle by eating nothing but ‘zebra testicles’, before asking his followers to wish him luck.

Dubbed ‘the leading man going into the jungle’, Matty J was all smiles in promo pictures he shared on social media.

He also rocked the red shirt, khaki shorts and wide-brimmed hat uniform for I’m A Celebrity contestants.

‘Cat (or lion) is out of the bag!’ Matty J wrote in the caption.

‘It’s always been a dream of mine to survive in the African jungle on nothing but zebra testicles and cold beans and this year it’s going to be a reality. Wish me luck!’

Fans congratulated the former reality TV star-turned-social media influencer, with many pointing out one notable fact.

‘I feel like “who did it better” Britt or Matt memes are coming soon,’ one person joked, referencing Brittany Hockley’s appearance on I’m A Celebrity in 2024.

Brittany starred on The Bachelor in 2018, one year after Matty J, and currently hosts the successful Life Uncut podcast with his wife Laura Byrne.

The are good friends behind-the-scenes, and fans have joked that Matty J got the idea to go on I’m A Celebrity from her.

‘What a way to start off. Clearly Britt raved about the jungle to you. Can’t wait to see you take it home,’ one follower wrote.

Other fanatics of the series also claimed they would only tune in to watch the 2025 season of I’m A Celebrity because of Matty J.

‘Yes! Might be worth watching Raygun for you,’ said one, referencing rumours that controversial Olympic breakdancer Rachael Gunn will be on the upcoming season.

‘I wasn’t going to watch it this year but now I definitely am with you being on it Matty. Best news ever,’ another wrote.

A third commented: ‘I’ll definitely be watching now.’

Matty J first shot to fame on Georgia Love’s season of The Bachelorette in 2016, before becoming The Bachelor himself a year later.

He is now one half of one of the most successful love stories to come off The Bachelor franchise, sharing two daughters with his now wife Laura, 38.

The country was captivated when the couple found a connection on the matchmaking show in 2017.

But the couple actually met before they ever appeared on the show.

In 2017, he told OK magazine that they’d bumped into each other in Sydney’s Bondi: ‘We crossed paths. She said something to my friend at the sauna at Icebergs.’

The lovebirds went on to get engaged in 2018 while on holiday in Fiji, before welcoming two daughters: Marlie-Mae in 2019 and Lola in 2021.

Fans were quick to make jokes about both Matty J and his wife Laura Byrne's close friend and podcast co-star Brittany Hockley, 37, (pictured) making appearances on I'm A Celebrity

They then tied the knot five years after uniting on The Bachelor, wedding at the stunning Cupitt’s Estate near Mollymook on the NSW South Coast.

Proudly displaying their love to the world, the pair wrapped their arms around each other and enjoyed a passionate kiss after saying ‘I do’.

Since their stint on the reality TV show, Matty J and Laura have maintained very successful careers as an influencer and podcaster respectively.

The former marketing manager has since gained recognition for his amusing posts on social media.

Matty J has managed to ride his 15 minutes of fame into a lucrative career, as he shares entertaining and relatable posts about his life with Laura and their daughters.

Meanwhile, Laura co-hosts the successful podcast Life Uncut with fellow Bachelor star Brittany, 37, where they have ‘unfiltered’ discussions about love and life.
