A DJ crashed a 211-mph Ferrari on a German autobahn as its owner sat next to him.
The DJ, described as a prominent 44-year-old from the western region of Bielefeld, was interested in the second-hand Ferrari SF90 Stradale, a hybrid model that puts out nearly 1,000 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 120mph in less than seven seconds.
The red supercar was being sold for €440,000 (£364,000), Bild reported.
The unnamed DJ, keen to test the limits of the car, took to the autobahn – famous for having no speed limit across large parts.
But he never got to see how fast the Ferrari could go – He reportedly crashed it on a slip road onto Autobahn 33 when he accidentally accelerated too hard.
This resulted in a major crash into the motorway’s central barriers, leaving the car in a complete wreck.
Bild reported that the tyres of the car hadn’t been warmed up properly before it was rapidly accelerated, leading to a major skid.
Though neither person in the car was harmed in the crash, the Ferrari was written off.
Debris had flown several metres away from the car, which had to be towed away by roadside services.
Police had to close off the motorway for almost an hour as the wreck was cleared away.
Ferraris are rare in Germany – Only 14,000 exist in the country, and of them only 442 are SF90 Stradales.
As a result, the country is often enamoured by the Italian brand, and will flock to newsstands when stories about their cars make the news.
In November, a 24-year-old employee of a luxury car dealership accidentally crashed a Ferrari F40 worth nearly £2.5million into the wall of a tunnel near Heilbronn, southern Germany.
