She said that it had taken ‘a whole football team’ for her to reach the point she was at now and revealed her pride at breastfeeding her baby girl.
Ferne, who is an advocate for breastfeeding, praised her ‘supportive partner’ Lorri and her mother for helping her out and the online community she had turned to when she had been struggling.
In the full caption she wrote: ‘The subject of this year’s World Breastfeeding Campaign, ‘Closing the Gap and Support for All,’ has made me realise that I wouldn’t be where I am with my breastfeeding journey if it weren’t for the support from others. It has taken a whole football team to reach the point where we are now.
Lack of support is one of the main reasons why mothers don’t continue. It’s vital! I know I wouldn’t still be breastfeeding Finty or even have gotten past the first few difficult months without these people. So today, I wanted to recognise all the people who supported us.
‘From the osteopath who did cranial therapy on Finty to loosen her jaw and help improve her latch, to the lactation consultant who helped me with Finty’s latch when she was born, to the incredible community midwives who want all mothers to succeed and make no question seem too silly to ask.
