Fantasia Barrino was the moment at the 7th Astra Film Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday.
The 39-year-old singer, nominated for the Best Actress Astra for The Color Purple, stole the spotlight on the red carpet in a bright orange sleeveless gown at the star-studded event held at the famous Biltmore Hotel.
Dressed to impress in the couture number, she added a thick gold necklace and matching bracelets for a modern twist.
Her co-nominees at the event include Carey Mulligan (Maestro), Emma Stone (Poor Things), Greta Lee (Past Lives), Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon) and Margot Robbie (Barbie).
Fantasia’s The Color Purple scooped up a total of eight nominations, as Killers of the Flower Moon and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse each garnered 10 nominations.

In the musical adaptation of The Color Purple, Fantasia plays Celie Harris-Johnson, Whoopi Goldberg’s character in the 1985 film, which was based on Alice Walker’s 1982 novel of the same name.
The star is featured alongside performers such as Taraji P. Henson, Colman Domingo and Corey Hawkins in the film.
The Astra Awards was announced months after the Hollywood Critics Association rebranded itself as the Hollywood Creative Alliance.
In early December, the HCA said that its various HCA awards will now be known as ‘The Astra Awards.’
‘As the Hollywood Creative Alliance expands to include creatives and other industry professionals, we wanted an award name that would be reflective of the newly relaunched organization,’ said HCA CEO Scott Menzel in a statement.
‘The name ‘Astra’ is a perfect award show title evoking celestial brilliance and creative mastery. It encapsulates the collaborative spirit, symbolizing individual stars and elegantly embodies the industry’s aspiration, innovation, and distinction.
‘This new name symbolizes unity amongst the diverse and inclusive membership of the Hollywood Creative Alliance.’
The red carpet showstopper from Fantasia comes after she recently opened up about the turbulent years she went through after winning the third season of American Idol in 2004.

‘You have to become a businesswoman and you link up with great business partners, but it doesn’t have a lot to do with love. It took me a long time to figure that out,’ she told People in December.
‘I didn’t know anything about contracts. I didn’t know anything about checking your money and making sure every day your stuff was where it was supposed to be,’ she said.
Fantasia added that she ‘simply trusted and believed in everyone who came into my life.’
Despite this, the singer acknowledged that she was ‘grateful’ for the experiences she underwent, emphasizing that she ‘wouldn’t be the woman I am today’ without them.
