Netflix fans have gleefully reacted to the announcement that the platform has started production for a second season of one of its best-loved shows.
The spy thriller became the streaming giant’s most-viewed series of 2023 after debuting last March, amassing a whopping 812 million hours of watch-time.
And finally, after months of those who loved the first series so much, Netflix have confirmed that production for its follow-up is underway.
They announced on X: ‘The Night Agent is back in production for season 2!’
Series one introduced viewers to low-level FBI officer Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) who is assigned a job in the White House which propels him into a conspiracy right at the very top of the US government – and his story is continuing.

Joining Basso in making a return for the second season will be Luciane Buchanan, as Peter’s love interest Rose Larkin.
The first series of The Night Agent was based on the Matthew Quirk novel of the same title, with some added extras from producers.
Details of this year’s 10-episode second series are ‘highly classified’ for the moment, but that has not stopped fans of the original bow getting excited, and already growing impatient.
They responded to the announcement by saying: ‘I loved season one so much. Go watch it guys it’s a 10/10…
‘Awesome! I just started to watch the first season episode one! So far so good!…
‘Let’s have it asap…
‘Please can’t you release it tomorrow already…
‘Finally! Can’t wait…
‘Looking forward to it…
‘Brilliant, keep us posted…
‘Can’t wait to see what season 2 unveils.’
The eagerness for a release is understandable, as it took the steaming platform just a week to confirm that agent Sutherland’s story would continue after the show first aired.
As well as the plot, the release date for the new installment of The Night Agent is unknown, but it will be released to Netflix subscribers at some point in 2024.
