Electric Fields, a duo whose work combines dance music with Indigenous culture, will represent at the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest.

Made up of vocalist Zaachariaha Fielding and keyboardist and producer Michael Ross, the pair will perform their tune One Milkali (One Blood), a song about a ‘united world’ in the competition, which takes place in Malmö, Sweden in May.

The group are well known to fans since their tune 2000 And Whatever came second in the Eurovision Decides song contest in 2019.

They lost first place to Kate Miller-Heidke, who ended up finishing ninth in the final competition with her song Zero Gravity.

Electric Fields will be the first duo has sent to Eurovision reported industry blog TV Tonight, after SBS and Blink TV announced their entry in the competition on Wednesday.

One Milkali uses Yankunytjatjara in its lyrics, an Indigenous language of the Anangu people.

Fielding rose to fame after appearing on The Voice in 2014 and later formed Electric Fields with Ross in 2015.

It comes after Perth-based progressive metal band Voyager wowed fans at last year’s Eurovision with their tune Promise.

Though they placed ninth overall the song took off as a result of their spectacular performance.

It ended up charting on Apple Music’s metal chart in Iceland, Ireland, UK, Israel, Poland, Netherlands, Norway, Belgium, Slovenia, Finland and Lithuania. 

Promise also fared in Spotify’s Viral Songs chart, scoring 3rd in Sweden and 4th in Iceland and last May.

Voyager came ninth after Estonia, Belgium, Ukraine, Norway, Italy, Israel, Finland and Sweden. 

Meanwhile, n singer Silia Kapsis, 17, has been chosen to represent Cyprus at Eurovision this year with her song, Liar.

It comes after Andrew Lambrou, 25, performed his song Break a Broken Heart last year as the Cypriot entry.
