Sinclair in hit animated series Invincible RECAST amid troubled star’s numerous controversies – including grooming and assault allegations

Ezra Miller’s role as District Attorney Sinclair in the animated Amazon Prime Series, Invincible, has quietly been recast amid the troubled star’s numerous controversies beginning in 2020.

The Flash star, 31 – who recently made a rare public appearance in Hollywood – notably voiced the character in the first season of the show.

However, Canadian voice actor Eric Bauza, has now taken over the role for the second season, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Bauza is no stranger when it comes to the world of animation, and is known for appearing in other projects such as The Adventures Of Puss In Boots and also Looney Tunes Cartoons.

Invincible’s second season began airing late last year in November 2023, and the finale is set to air next month on April 4.

D.A. Sinclair returned to the series this week on Thursday’s episode titled: I’m Not Going Anywhere.

Other stars that voice characters in the show include Steven Yeun, Sandra Oh, Zazie Beatz, J.K. Simmons, Mark Hamill, Seth Rogen and also Zachary Quinto.

The premise is, ‘based on the Skybound/Image comic about a teenager whose father is the most powerful superhero on the planet,’ per an official IMDB synopsis.

Most recently, Miller – who uses they/them pronouns – took on a leading role in the 2023 film The Flash, which bombed at the box office.

The movie had been dubbed the ‘greatest superhero movie ever made’ by James Gunn – but eventually raked in around $270 million in the global box office, after making only $55 million over opening weekend.

Calls for Ezra to be recast in the DC film had been made due to the actor’s various legal troubles, but director Andy Muschietti defended keeping them in the movie.

The filmmaker told Entertainment Weekly, ‘We have a lot of empathy in general for people who need help, and especially in mental health issues.’

‘That’s why they are taking the necessary steps to deal with their recovery, and we support them in that.’

Controversies surrounding Ezra began in 2020 when a video allegedly showed Miller choking a woman while at a bar located in Reykjavik, Iceland.

Two years later, they were arrested on multiple occasions for both assault and burglary, and was also accused of grooming children.

Ezra was accused of inappropriate behavior by the parents of 12-year-old nonbinary child, Tokata Iron Eyes (now 20), and also claimed the star had harassed the family.

That same year, they shared a statement to apologize and also revealed that they were getting treatment for ‘complex mental health issues.’

‘Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,’ Miller’s reps expressed, per Variety.

‘I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior.’

In conclusion, Ezra added, ‘I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.’

Last year in June, a temporary protective order against Miller was dropped in the state of Massachusetts. At the time, Miller issued a statement on their Instagram page to address the TPO being lifted.

‘I’m encouraged by today’s outcome and very grateful at this moment to everyone who has stood beside me and sought to ensure that this egregious misuse of the protective order system was halted.’

They said, ‘Protective orders are not meant to be used as weapons by those seeking attention or fleeting tabloid fame or some sort of personal vengeance when there are people in true and dire need of these service.’

‘Protective orders are meant to provide safety for individuals, families, and children who are in danger.’

The Perks Of Being A Wallflower star then added, ‘I have been unjustly and directly targeted by an individual who the facts have shown has a history of such manipulative and destructive actions…’

Later in the statement, Miller said, ‘I want everyone to know that I am continuing to do my best to preserve my own wellness and what I can to reverse the collateral damage this ordeal has brought upon me and those close to me.’

‘Finally, to all you many beings in this world who have had the enormous courage to see me through it all and make it here with me.’

‘I will spend a long time trying to explain to you what it has meant to have your support. You have my undying gratitude, admiration, and love. – Ezra.’

Miller had been on the road to a budding career before the controversies came to light, such as starring alongside Logan Lerman and Emma Watson in The Perks Of Being A Wallflower (2012).

Last year in June, Miller made a rare red carpet appearance in Hollywood at the premiere of The Flash.

One month earlier, director Andy Muschietti revealed that Ezra could possibly take on the role once again if a sequel to The Flash was made.

During an interview on The Discourse podcast, the filmmaker stated, ‘If [a sequel] happens, yes, [Ezra would play The Flash]. I don’t think there’s anyone that can play that character as well as they did.’
