Ex-NFL player Sergio Brown faces two separate charges after being taken into custody in connection with the death of his mother earlier this month.
Brown’s mother Myrtle, 73, was beaten to death and dumped in a creek behind their house in Maywood, Illinois and her body was found September 16. Brown was reported missing alongside her by his concerned brother Nick.
According to TMS Sports, the former safety will appear in front of a judge on Wednesday after being transported from San Diego to Illinois, with a hearing set to take place just a few miles from where he is accused of killing Myrtle and dumping her body in a creek.
It is believed he is facing charges of both first-degree murder and concealment of a dead body.
Two weeks after first being arrested over the death of his mother, police have released Brown’s latest mugshot as he awaits Wednesday’s hearing, with the 35-year-old appearing to be wearing a Pittsburgh Steelers jersey.

Brown was first taken into custody on October 10 after being found by authorities in Mexico, where he was seen partying and dancing following his mother’s passing.
Despite the family tragedy and ongoing police investigation, he was spotted living it up at a Tulum beach club, dancing shirtless with scantily-clad women.
In one social media video, Brown said he thought his mom had gone on vacation.
In the clip, in which he tagged ESPN, Brown says: ‘Fake news. It has to be the FBI, they came into my house…unwarranted.
‘They kidnapped me twice from home, the Maywood Police Department. It had to be the FBI or the Maywood Police. I thought my momma was on vacation.’
