Ex-AFL WAG Amy Pejkovic has revealed the grim reality of being single in her thirties following her split with Essendon footballer David Zaharakis.

The model, 31, said she was finding it hard to adjust to being without a partner at her age and has been forced to move in with her parents following their breakup.

‘I am single and 31 and that is definitely not something I thought I would ever be saying,’ Amy said in a video posted to Instagram.

She admitted she felt humiliated over the situation.

‘When I was younger I thought I would be married and have kids and a house at 31. Instead, I’ve moved back in with my parents and am being treated like a 14-year-old!’ she said.

‘It feels embarrassing, I’m 31 and single! So many of my friends are in happy relationships and I am not.

‘I look at myself and I am just not where I thought I would be. It’s a hard pill to swallow.’

Amy finished by saying she was hopeful things would improve and asked her fans to share their similar stories with her.

Many of Amy’s followers quickly took to the comment section to offer her words of support.

‘It’s a hard pill to swallow but you will be okay,’ one fan wrote.

‘Absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about. It’s pretty normal these days,’ a second person added.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Amy was nursing a broken heart, but was handling her split the ‘mature’ way.

The model parted ways with her AFL star partner after the pair realised they were not suited as lovers.

They had been dating for four years, and are said to have made the decision to break up together.

‘We decided we’d be better as friends,’ she told the Herald Sun on Sunday.

‘I’m proud of how we’ve handled it. We weren’t as compatible as we thought,’ she continued.

‘I loved with all my heart and I have so much admiration for him and still love him. He’s also very excited to see what I do next year. That’s life.’

Amy said she is now focusing on her career and may move to Europe to pursue modelling and ambassador work.

She has gigs with the n Open and the n Grand Prix coming up on her busy calendar.

Zaharakis has also been making changes in his life and career.

The former Essendon midfielder has done so well in his transformation into an Ironman competitor that he will face off against the ‘elite of the elite’ in the sport’s world championship this month.

Zaharakis played 226 games across 13 AFL seasons for the Bombers before retiring in 2021.

He was a fan favourite of supporters decked out in red and black, and in 2013 snared the Anzac Day Medal following a commanding performance against Collingwood as well as the being crowned the club’s best and fairest player in 2011.
