Detectives have found the body of a 60-year-old woman stuffed into the boot of a car after police were called to conduct a welfare check.
Officers discovered the body inside the vehicle parked on Park Street in Evans Head, on the New South Wales north coast, on Friday around 8.10am.
Police were called to an apartment after concerns were raised about the welfare of one of the residents.
Officers then found the body of the woman who is believed to be aged in her 60s inside the boot of the vehicle.

Police sources said the woman had sustained several stab wounds.
Officers said the woman was killed inside the unit, before her body was later moved and dumped into boot of the car.
A 39-year-old-man has been arrested and was taken to Ballina Police Station, where he is helping detectives with their inquiries.
The man is understood to be known to the woman.
Officers have set up a crime scene and an investigation into the incident has begun.
