While it failed to make much of a dent in its box office debut three weeks ago, Eva Mendes is praising her husband’s new film The Fall Guy.

The 50-year-old actress shared a poster for The Fall Guy, which shows her 43-year-old husband kissing his co-star Emily Blunt.

‘Did you know?! @thefallguymovie is the FIRST non super hero movie to open the summer box office in 17 years!’ she said of The Fall Guy debuting in the first weekend of May, which typically marks the start of the summer movie season.

‘And maybe it didn’t break the box office but it broke sooo many other records,’ she added, referring to the film’s soft $28.5 million debut at the box office.

‘I’m extra proud of this one. The proof is in my post-I don’t usually post pics of my man kissing a babe but Emily Blunt is just that damn good in it,’ she said.

The Fall Guy was tracking to earn between $30 million and $40 million in its box office debut, but it came in under than with $28.5 million.

The post comes after her husband Gosling opened up about his shift away from darker roles.

The 43-year-old actor shares daughters Esmerelda, 9, and Amada, 8, with wife Eva Mendes, who he’s been with since 2011.

The actor is no stranger to playing troubled, darker characters, though he admitted in an interview with Wall Street Journal that his approach to new roles has changed since becoming a father.

‘I don’t really take roles that are going to put me in some kind of dark place,’ Gosling said in the interview.

‘The decisions I make, I make them with Eva, and we make them with our family in mind first,’ he stressed.

After starting his career as a teenager on The Mickey Mouse Club, he veered into much darker roles in his 20s and 30s.

He earned rave reviews playing troubled characters in films like Half Nelson, Blue Valentine, Drive, The Place Beyond the Pines and Only God Forgives.

Though it was his turn in the airy 2016 musical La La Land was when he realized that his movies could be fun for his children too.

‘I think La La Land was the first. It was sort of like, oh, this will be fun for them too, because even though they’re not coming to set, we’re practicing piano every day or we’re dancing or we’re singing,’ Gosling said.
