Musk issued a flurry of attacks on Trump and his signature legislation on his X platform, including the ultimate insult as he claimed to be the sole reason Trump won the 2024 election.
The businessman also cited Trump’s past opposition to raising federal spending as he urged Republicans not to pass the bill, in one post questioning: ‘Where is this guy today??’
Shares in Musk’s companies nosedived as he escalated his feud with the president, with Tesla stock dropping eight percent.
The fallout stunned Washington as Republicans scrambled to peacefully end the fight, with House Speaker Mike Johnson telling reporters he was urgently ‘trying to call Elon now.’
It came as German Chancellor Friedrich Merz joined Trump in the Oval Office on Thursday hours after announcing a sweeping travel ban on several nations.
