Elon Musk’s DOGE remains largely popular among Americans as the agency estimates it has slashed $105 billion since Donald Trump took office.

According to the latest DailyMail.com/J.L. Partners poll of 1,000 U.S. registered voters, DOGE’s approval rating is at 48%, which is quite high just over 50 days into the second Donald Trump administration.

However, 52% of those voters polled disapprove of the new agency that’s creating shockwaves across the government.

In the first few months of DOGE the group claims it has cut billions from various federal agencies like USAID, the Education Department, the State Department, including billions worth of contracts for DEI initiatives.

DOGE boss and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has been one of the most visible figures in Trump’s inner orbit.

Musk has been seen traveling to and from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home alongside a select few of the president’s senior staff and family. And he was at the White House on Tuesday helping Trump pick out a brand new Tesla.

He has also participated in Cabinet meetings, Oval Office press conferences and even got a VIP seat at Donald Trump’s joint address to Congress last week.

However, Musk has captured a slew of negative headlines about firing veterans, accessing American’s sensitive financial data and cutting off foreign aid.

His efforts have not gone unnoticed by Americans and protests have broken out at Tesla dealerships and outside scores of federal agencies across Washington.

According to the poll, 51% of Americans have either a somewhat or very unfavorable view of Musk.

And Americans are also skeptical about Musk’s motivations.

More than half (52%) of the survey respondents shared they believe Musk is working at DOGE and in the Trump administration to enrich himself.

Roughly two in three respondents were not convinced that Musk has the best intentions for the U.S.

Conversely, Just 38% of those who took the survey believe that Musk is either somewhat or very favorable.

Musk is significantly less popular in the U.S. than Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky and former VP Kamala Harris, according to the poll.

Many have taken issue with the billionaire’s close ties to Trump, and some think its because Musk is using his position to pull in higher profits.

Over half of the March poll’s respondents (53%) believe that the X owner has too much power.

Over one out of three Republicans also say that Musk has too much influence.

Additionally, many Americans expressed that Musk is the one actually calling the shots in the White House, not Trump.

In total, 32% of respondents shared they believe Musk is in charge of running the country.

As Musk’s governmental work has expanded, so have the public demonstrations against the DOGE leader.

Across the globe from Portland, Oregon to Boston to Paris, Tesla locations have been protested.

In Manhattan, over 200 activists took part in anti-Musk protests in recent weeks.

The vandalism has been wide spread and reports of arson at Tesla dealerships have been reported, and images of charred cybertrucks have gone viral.

The attacks on Tesla have been so bad that Trump shared on Tuesday that he would purchase one of the company’s electric vehicles to support his friend.

Musk has also raised eyebrows after a reported brouhaha with Rubio during a Cabinet meeting last week.

During the meeting Musk accused the Secretary of State of not firing staff fast enough while Rubio expressed dismay with the pace of DOGE’s rapid fire cuts.

The incident reportedly forced Trump to intervene.

Later, the president took to his app Truth Social to make clear the two are on the same page.

‘Elon and Marco have a great relationship. Any statement other than that is fake news,’ Trump posted on Truth Social.
