Two masked burglars broke into a Houston woman’s house, stealthily navigating through her home to steal medication from her bedroom while she was asleep.

Katrina Evans, a resident of southwest Houston, Texas, recently opened up about the harrowing experience, sharing surveillance footage that captured the audacious theft.

‘It’s a fear that never goes away. How do you ever feel safe in your own home again?’ she expressed to local news station KHOU11.

In the videos captured by Evans’ home security cameras, two hooded individuals can be seen discreetly crossing over a wall as they intruded onto the patio.

Another camera positioned inside Evans’ house reveals the intruders walking up the stairs and entering the bedroom.

Evans said she thinks the alleged burglars broke into her house through a sliding glass door connecting the patio and home.

‘They went into our bedroom and stole items from there and then came into the office where I was asleep and stood three feet away from me and stole my medication as well,’ she said.

The pair allegedly stole her son’s PlayStation gaming console as well, Evans said, adding that she was asleep the entire time of the incident.

‘They could have killed me, anything could have happened, they could’ve come back,’ Evans said.

After realizing her medication was missing, Evans called her husband who helped pull up security camera footage.

Despite Evans reporting to the Houston Police Department immediately, the suspects got away with the crime.

‘[My husband] started pulling up the camera footage and that’s when we knew, and we called HPD immediately and it took four and half hours for them to come out here,’ she said.

‘It was disappointing, it doesn’t make me feel any safer,’ she said of the authorities’ response to the incident.

Evans mentioned that one of the suspects looks familiar. She believes it’s someone who lives nearby, and she might even know the person.

The day after the allegedly burglary, Evans even saw one of the suspects in the same area, but it again took hours for authorities to respond.

It’s not the first time for Evans to experience theft. Prior to the eerie break-in, Evans had her car broken into, and the tires on her husband’s car were stolen.

She now carries a personal alarm and has installed door stoppers and real-time video cameras at home.

‘So all I can do is put more locks and more alarms and more cameras and hope it works, which I shouldn’t have to do,’ she said.
