This is the moment two schoolboys were arrested on suspicion of taking an elderly disabled man’s mobility scooter for a joy ride.
A woman in her 60s rang 999 after waking up to find her dog barking and her husband’s disability carriage missing from the back garden.
Police swooped on the property at Carlton in Lindrick, Nottinghamshire, at 1am on Wednesday – before a chase ensued when a pair of teens were spotted in a park.
Dramatic bodycam footage shows the moment cops arrested the two boys aged 14 and 15 nearby.
The clip shows one officer charging through gardens and leaping over fences as he chases one of the suspected thieves, yelling: ‘Police officer, stay where you are.’
Sprinting with a torch, the cop is filmed detaining one of the youths, telling him: ‘Just keep your hands where I can see them,’ before cuffing the suspect.
Both boys were arrested on suspicion of theft, with officers allegedly finding a balaclava on one of the teens.
The mobility scooter was then returned to its rightful owner.
Neighbourhood Inspector Hayley Crawford, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: ‘Stealing a mobility scooter is just cruel.
‘This would have had a devastating impact on his quality of life had it not been found and returned to him.
‘The rapid response from our officers made sure that it was back in his possession and that two suspects were caught.
‘I hope this offers the public some reassurance, that we take these types of incidents extremely seriously.’
