Dramatic photos shared online show the blood-stained assault rifle gunman Shane Tamura used to open fire inside a Midtown Manhattan skyscraper, killing an officer and three others.
The 27-year-old gunman was caught on surveillance footage ahead of the shooting Monday evening wearing a sport coat and button-down shirt while carrying the large rifle near the office building that houses Blackstone asset management and the NFL on Monday evening.
The weapon, manufactured by Palmetto State Armory, has since been obtained by the New York Police Department.
Photos show it was modified with a scope, flashlight, and a tactical sling. Blood could also be seen on its hilt.
Tamura opened fire inside the skyscraper at 345 Park Avenue at around 6.30pm, with approximately 30 people inside, before he reportedly took his own life.
Officer Didarul Islam, who was working private security at the time, was killed in the attack as were three others.
A fourth victim also remains in critical condition.

The NYPD released a statement remembering Officer Didarul Islam, who it called 'the very best of our department.
'He was protecting New Yorkers from danger when his life was tragically cut short today,' the department said.
'We join in prayer during this time of incomprehensible pain. We will forever honor his legacy.'
House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries calls for stricter gun laws
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries called for stricter gun laws following the mass shooting Monday night.
'Mass shootings are a plague. The gun violence epidemic continues to afflict our country and now has shattered lives in our great city,' he said in a statement shared to X.
'The time has come for decisive action.'
Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine shares condolences for Officer Islam
Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine shared his conolences for Police Officer Didarul Islam on X Monday night.
'He represented the best of our city,' Levine wrote. 'Tonight he was killed in cold blood.
'I am heartbroken and outraged by this loss. I am praying for his family and loved ones, and all those impacted by today’s tragedy.
'No city can accept this and we do not accept this.'
Shooter let woman pass unharmed during rampage
The shooter inexpicably let a woman pass unharmed during his rampage on Monday night.
Shane Temura had opened fire inside the lobby of 345 Park Avenue, and after he shot three people he called for an elevator to the 33rd floor.
At that point, Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said, a woman left the elevator shaft and Temura let her pass unharmed before he made his way upstairs.
There, another woman was found dead, as was Temura of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his chest.
CNN's Erin Burnett scolded for claiming suspect was 'possibly white'
CNN's Erin Burnett came under fire Monday night for originally claiming the shooting suspect was 'possibly white.'
As news broke about the shooting in Midtown Manhattan, Burnett reported that police knew what the gunman looked like, 'sunglasses, mustache, male, possibly white.'
Yet surveillance photos that had already posted online showed the gunman, Shane Tamura, a black man, carrying a large automatic rifle.
'CNN showed its true colors this evening,' political commentator David J. Freeman wrote on X. 'They hate White people and spread misinformation.'
Another account called the network 'fake news trash' and said 'everyone who works there is scum.'
Tamura traveled across country
Gunman Shane Tamura traveled across the country from his home in Las Vegas to New York City to carry out the attack, Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch announced at the news conference.
His vehicle was seen traveling through Colorado on Jul 26 and passed through New Jersey earlier on Monday evening.
The black BMW was searched, and police found a backpack with a rifle and ammunition, as well as medication prescribed to Tamura.
The gunman had known mental health issues, Tisch said.
Mayor Eric Adams describes fallen officer as a 'true blue New Yorker'
At a news conference Monday night, Mayor Eric Adams described Officer Didarul Islam, who worked in the Bronx, as a 'true blue New Yorker.
'He loved this city,' the mayor said, adding that his family and friends told him the 37-year-old was a devout man and his father's only son.
'No words can describe this act of evil,' Adams said. 'Our hearts break.'
Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch also said Islam was a father of two and his wife was pregnant with their third child.
'He put himself in harm's way,' she said. 'He died as he lived, a hero.'
NFL employees urged to hide inside Manhattan skyscraper
NFL employees were urged to 'hide' after an active shooter stormed into the building which includes the league's headquarters in New York on Monday.
According to ESPN's Jeff Darlington, an NFL security alert sent to employees read: 'Do not exit the building. Secure your location and hide until law enforcement clears your floor. Please switch phones to silent.'

Office workers barricaded themselves with couches
Office workers inside 365 Park Avenue barricaded themselves inside when the gunfire started, photos posted online show.
They show couches piled up beside a door to prevent the gunman from gaining entry.
Another photo showed employees adding even more pieces of furniture to the stack.

The man who unleashed chaos inside a Midtown Manhattan office tower on Monday afternoon has been identified as Shane Tamura, a 27-year-old licensed private investigator from Las Vegas who once dreamed of a life in football.
Authorities say Tamura arrived in Manhattan by car on Monday and walked into 345 Park Avenue in the heart of Midtown Manhattan with a concealed weapon permit issued by the Las Vegas Sheriff's Department.

Shooter identified as Shane Tamura
The shooter has been identified as 27-year-old Shane Tamura, of Las Vegas, who had a concealed carry permit and previously worked as a private investigator, according to CNN.
A motive for the shooting remains unclear, though NBC New York reports police are probing the possibility the former high school football star was targeting the National Football League headquarters inside.

Video shared online showed dozens of police officers, wearing protective gear, entering the midtown Manhattan office building that houses Blackstone asset management and the NFL on Monday.
They later found the gunman dead on the 33rd floor of 345 Park Avenue.
Four victims now confirmed dead
Law enforcement officials have confirmed that at least four victims have succumbed to their injuries from the shooting.
Among those who were killed was Police Officer Didarul Islam, who was working private security at the time.
