The kid who went viral in 2018 for taking a selfie with Super Bowl halftime performer Justin Timberlake has seemingly disappeared from social media after a ‘drunken’ arrest.
Ryan McKenna garnered the nickname ‘Selfie Kid’ when he was 13 after excitedly capturing a photo with Timberlake during the middle of his performance.
Since his 15 minutes of fame, McKenna stretched it out and regularly appeared at parties and on red carpets cozying up to celebs for a selfie which he then shared on his Instagram account.
However his squeaky clean reputation took a turn when he was arrested during a dispute with Florida police at a pizza place in Naples in February 2023.
Since then, McKenna has seemingly disappeared from social media.
His last post was a picture of him on a boat one month after his arrest in March 2023. He has also now made his Instagram account private.
His dramatic arrest was filmed, showing him being slammed to the ground by sheriff’s deputies as they tried to wrestle him into handcuffs outside a California Pizza Kitchen.
McKenna had allegedly gotten into a drunken fight with a 15-year-old friend on the eve of that year’s Super Bowl game and later yanked an officer’s hands from his chest as they tried to get him under control, according to an incident report reviewed by TMZ.

In a video of the incident three officers were seen trying to restrain McKenna until one grabbed his left leg, swung it up into the air and forced him onto the ground.
He was then taken to Naples Jail Center and charged with felony battery on a law enforcement officer and two misdemeanors – resisting arrest and obstruction of an officer.
Discussing his arrest in Florida, his mother told TMZ at the time that he had not been drunk but was just messing around with friends and that a friend had pulled a chair out from under him.
According to an incident report reviewed by the outlet, police were responding to a report on the evening of February 11 that a man was drunk and hitting his friend.
The video of McKenna’s arrest shows him being slammed to the ground and flipped over to a face down position. As he lay on the ground he could be heard telling them, ‘Stop, stop’

When police arrived officers say a 15-year-old boy told them he was friends with McKenna but that they had gotten into an argument.
The dispute continued to escalate until McKenna stood up and aggressively pushed the California Pizza Kitchen table and started yelling obscenities at the boy’s girlfriend.
Cops say they were talking to the 15-year-old when McKenna aggressively interjected but that he was eventually held to the side and allowed to calm down.
Shopping center security then asked to have McKenna escorted off the property but cops say his behavior then turned aggressive as he tried to approach the boy again.
McKenna met several celebrities over the years, including Mario Lopez and Kelly Osbourne
He also met Patrick Mahomes, who is going back to the Super Bowl for the third time this year
After earning the name Selfie Kid, McKenna became increasingly famous for taking selfies with various celebrities and gained nearly half a million followers on Instagram. He is pictured here with Ellen DeGeneres in February 2018
McKenna became a social media sensation after taking the selfie with Timberlake and he appeared on Good Morning America where said his phone ‘exploded’ with messages and phone calls.
He excitedly described how he had gained more than 8,000 followers on social media overnight.
After earning the name Selfie Kid, McKenna became increasingly famous for taking more selfies with various celebrities and accrued nearly half a million followers on Instagram.
