Suits leading man Patrick J Adams has said Meghan Markle is a ‘fantastic actor’ and the industry would be ‘lucky’ to have her back.
The actor, who played the husband of in the Duchess of Sussex, 42, in the legal drama, made the comments during an interview with E! at the 42nd Golden Globes last night in LA.
After the host Keltie Knight joked about making up a rumour about it happening so she could ask about it, Patrick said: ‘I think Megan’s a fantastic actor, so we’d be lucky to have her back in the industry. Sure.’
When pushed, he said: ‘I’m ready, let’s go…[we could do a spinoff] Mike and Rachel [their character names] In Seattle.’
The programme has recently seen a boost, becoming extremely popular on Netflix since Meghan married Prince Harry, 39.

When asked about the show becoming so popular again, Patrick said he felt ‘honoured’.
He said: ‘I’m totally astounded that it’s found a second life.
‘I feel honoured.
‘You know, when you walk away from a show, you think that’s it and then you’re going to move on to something else.
‘And just to know that a whole new generation of people are finding it and loving it – loving it almost more than they loved it the first time around – [is] incredible.’
During the interview, Patrick was accompanied by his wife Troian Bellisario.
The couple married in 2016 after meeting on the set of Equivocation and share two daughters.
When asked if they would work together again, they said they loved doing so, and despite needing a break after collaborating a lot, they made good work together.

Meanwhile, Meghan Markle wasn’t able to join a Suits reunion at the Golden Globes last night because of a ‘previous commitment’, an insider has claimed.
Speaking to Page Six, a source alleged that the Duchess of Sussex was invited to the event, but ‘unfortunately’ wasn’t able to make an appearance because of other plans.
Meanwhile, Gina Torres – who played Jessica Pearson in the US legal drama – revealed on Sunday that the ex-castmates simply ‘don’t have her number’ when asked if anyone had reached out to the former actress.
Patrick J. Adams and Gabriel Macht, who played lawyers Mike Ross and Harvey Specter in the show, presented the best TV drama award before they were joined by fellow stars Gina and Sarah Rafferty.
But Meghan, 42, didn’t attend the star-studded 81st annual ceremony in Los Angeles alongside her former colleagues.
Cast members from TV show Suits reunited on stage at the Golden Globes on Sunday night – but there was one notable star missing
Speaking to Variety at the Golden Globes, Gina seemingly revealed the reason behind the Duchess’ absence.
An interviewer asked: ‘Who texted Meghan and said “you’ve gotta come to the Golden Globes, Meghan Markle”.’
‘We don’t have her number. We just don’t so. She’ll see. She’ll watch. She’ll be happy that we’re here,’ said the 54-year-old US actress, who attended the Royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan in 2018.
Last night’s awards ceremony also saw host Jo Koy spark outrage with a savage barb aimed at the couple during his opening monologue.
He started by calling the Royal Family ‘rich, white and dysfunctional’ in a gag comparing HBO’s Succession to Netflix’s The Crown.
Then, moving on to the Sussexes, Jo remarked that the pair are being paid ‘millions for doing absolutely nothing – and that’s just by Netflix’ to huge laughs in the auditorium, including one from Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos.
The streaming service reportedly paid £88 million ($100million) for the couple’s 2022 docuseries as part of a multi-year deal with the streaming giant.
Jo’s joke was seen as a ‘brutal’ dig at the couple following a tumultuous year which also saw their lucrative podcast deal with Spotify scrapped after just one season of the Meghan-hosted Archetypes. Spotify exec and podcast guru Bill Simmons later labelled them as ‘grifters’.
And charitable donations to their Archewell foundation also dropped by around $12 million in 2023.
Adams and Macht first appeared as a duo before being joined by their female co-stars on Sunday night
Adams played con man-turned-lawyer Mike Ross, who became Harvey Specter’s (Macht) protégé on the show. Rafferty played legal secretary Donna Paulsen, while Torres starred as a managing partner Jessica Pearson
Last night, Variety asked Gina about Sunday’s Suits reunion, with the interviewer asking: ‘Did you plan this? Are you all texting each other?
She explained: ‘When it all came through, we were all texting each other. Yes, our text thread is insane right now. So it’s very exciting.’
Discussing Meghan’s absence, a Globes insider told Page Six: ‘We asked the Duchess, but we were told that, unfortunately, she had a previous commitment.’
Cast members from Suits reunited on stage at the Golden Globes, poking fun at the series’ new found success on Netflix.
Making a gag about how the show has gained recent prominence since launching on the streaming giant, Gabriel said: ‘There is nothing more dramatic or anxiety-inducing than waiting all night to hear that our category has finally arrived.’
Patrick, who exited the show at the end of season seven alongside his on-screen wife Meghan following her real life engagement to Prince Harry, joked: ‘It is hard to imagine having to wait so long to see your show get that kind of recognition.’

Suits originally aired on USA Network for nine seasons from 2011 to 2019, and saw genius college dropout Mike Ross (Adams) join a high-profile law firm alongside Harvey Specter (Macht), Jessica Pearson (Torres) and Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman), while Rafferty played Harvey’s no-nonsense assistant Donna Paulsen.
The Duchess played Rachel Zane, a paralegal who becomes a formidable attorney and eventually marries Mike Ross.
Earlier in the night while walking the red carpet, Gabriel discussed the show’s reawakened popularity.
‘It’s an amazing thing. We had some great success when the show was on… and then at a certain point, Netflix came in. It’s just gotten incredible eyes and we’re very grateful for it,’ he shared as per EW.

Aside from Netflix, Suits is also available on NBC’s streaming platform Peacock. Between Netflix and Peacock, viewership for Suits hit the 2.359 billion minute mark.
Suits was added to Netflix in June, and quickly attracted viewers with its binge-friendly catalogue of 134 episodes spanning nine seasons.
