Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson ‘unsuspended’ her campaign Wednesday, 21 days after she announced she was pulling out of the 2024 race.
Williamson posted a video to X Wednesday morning explaining she had dropped out because she was ‘losing the horse race.’ ‘But something so much more important than the horse race is at stake here, and we must respond,’ she said.
She argued in a note to supporters that Democratic President Joe Biden was a ‘weak candidate’ to take on the likely Republican nominee, former President Donald Trump, labeling the former president a ‘fascist.’
Trump easiliy won the Michigan primary to rival Nikki Haley, while Biden lost 100,000 Democratic votes to ‘uncommitted,’ as Wolverine State voters protested his support for Israel in its war against Hamas.
Williamson’s name remained on the ballot and garnered 3 percent, a better performance than Minnesota Rep. Dean Phillips, who had received the endorsement of the Detroit News.

Williamson initially dropped out of the race after underperforming in Nevada’s Demcocratic primary
In a video to supporters she said, ‘I read a quote the other day that said that “sunsets are proof that endings can be beautiful too.”‘
‘And so today, even though it is time to suspend my campaign for the presidency I do want to see the beauty and I want all of you incredibly supported me on this journey, as donors, as supporters, as team and as volunteers, to see the beauty too,’ she said
‘There is so much for us to take from this. And that includes knowing that we laid it down in way that we should all be proud of,’ Williamson added.
She also told supporters in an email, ”First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you don’t win :)…’
‘While the level of our failure is obvious to all, a level of success is real nonetheless,’ she continued. ‘And I’m not only glad we did that; I’m proud of it.’
ABC News first reported Williamson’s decision to drop out of the race.
She officially entered the race in March.
Williamson actively campaigned in New Hampshire – bypassed spending time in South Carolina, where Biden was dominant – and then placed her bets on Nevada.
However, the Silver State primary was immediately called for the sitting president after polls closed.
She garnered just under 3,200 votes – or 2.9 percent – to Biden’s dominate 89.3 percent.
In New Hampshire she received around 5,000 votes or 4 percent of the total.
In South Carolina she got around 2,700 votes and 2.1 percent of the vote.
