Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren called for Israel to cease bombing Gaza shortly after she was confronted by a pro-Palestine activist while out eating dinner with friends amid the ongoing conflict in Israel.

A video showing the interaction was posted online by Jewish Voice for Peace Boston on November 10.

‘The crisis in Gaza is growing. Israeli airstrikes are destroying residential buildings and public infrastructure. Restrictions on humanitarian aid make life even harder. Stop the bombing NOW,’ Warren wrote in a message on X on November 16.

The video begins with the unidentified woman walking up to Warren’s table in a crowded restaurant in the Boston-suburb of Cambridge. The liberal senator is dining with three other people.

The woman identifies herself as a ‘refugee from Gaza and a constituent of yours.’ Warren attempts to rebuff the woman saying: ‘It’s nice to meet you, I’m having dinner.’ Despite this, the activist persisted.

‘Sixty-eight members of my family were killed over the last three weeks. And I just want to know how many more have to die before you’re going to call for a ceasefire,’ the woman asks.

‘How many more of my family has to die for you to call for a ceasefire? I just don’t know how much more do I have to say for you to call for a ceasefire. People are calling your office every day asking for a ceasefire and you are refusing to call for a ceasefire,’ the woman goes on.

She is then moved away by an unidentified man. The clip ends with Warren’s office number flashing up on the screen.

Palestinian civilians have borne the brunt of Israel’s weeks-long military campaign in retaliation for the barbaric Hamas assault on Israel says killed 1,200 people, mostly civilians.

Gaza health authorities deemed reliable by the United Nations say at least 11,500 people have been confirmed killed in an Israeli bombardment and ground invasion – more than 4,700 of them children.

On Thursday, about 100 protesters stopped traffic on the bridge connecting Boston to Cambridge for more than two hours during the morning rush. They chanted ‘cease-fire now!’ and held a banner with the words ‘Jews say: ceasefire now.’

A banner held by the protesters specifically called on Warren to demand a ceasefire.

Demonstrations over the war are becoming more disruptive across the U.S. Protesters calling for a cease-fire clashed with police Wednesday outside Democratic National Committee headquarters in Washington, D.C., where representatives and candidates were inside for a reception.

Eighty protesters were arrested on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge and 29 vehicles were towed after demonstrators blocked all lanes on the upper deck, with some drivers tossing their keys into the bay.

One person was booked into county jail but the others were cited and released.

Also on Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin  Netanyahu was asked CBS News whether Israel’s killing of thousands of Palestinians in its almost six week war against Hamas militants would fuel hatred among a new generation.

Israel’s attempts to minimize civilian casualties were ‘not successful’, Netanyahu said, accusing Hamas of preventing civilians from moving to safer locations.

‘Any civilian death is a tragedy. And we shouldn’t have any because we’re doing everything we can to get the civilians out of harm’s way, while Hamas is doing everything to keep them in harm’s way,’ Netanyahu said.

‘So we send leaflets, call them on their cell phones, and we say: “leave.” And many have left,’ he said.
