Democrat Jamie Raskin accused Republicans trying to force Hunter Biden into relapse as his Hollywood attorney friend Kevin Morris testified on Capitol Hill.
Raskin, the top Democrat on the Oversight Committee, told reporters Morris’ testimony was part of a right-wing effort to ‘try to drive Hunter Biden to a relapse to cause a crisis within his family.’
‘No one would wanna see anyone relapse,’ Oversight Chair Rep. James Comer told reporters. ‘That’s crazy.’
Hunter Biden, a recovering drug addict, accept some $5 million in financial backing from Morris for tax debts, housing and legal costs. It’s not clear exactly what portion of that he paid back as a loan repayment.

It’s not clear what relation Morris plays into the Joe Biden impeachment investigation. Investigators said he told them he had met the president three times and donated to Biden’s campaign.
Morris and Hunter Biden’s allies have insisted the bong-smoking Hollywood attorney helped the president’s son in a friend capacity, not in an attorney-client relationship.
Comer said they were focused in on potential campaign finance violations and ethics violations.
‘There’s so many tax implications here,’ Comer said. ‘There’s so many political implications I think the most concerning thing is the fact that Kevin Morris is a politically active person. And they had a problem prior to the presidential election with the president son owing taxes.’
Raskin said Morris had testified that the money he loaned to Hunter represented ‘less than five percent’ of his total assets.
‘He seems like a very generous and loving friend,’ Raskin said of Morris. ‘He’s never worked for any foreign government at all. He’s not acting as a channel for foreign government funds to Hunter Biden or President Biden. He has nothing to do with representing foreign governments in any way.’

Morris, a high-powered entertainment lawyer from Los Angeles, has been a ubiquitous but quiet presence in Hunter Biden’s entourage, guiding the president’s son through his mounting legal troubles.
Morris is reportedly working with Hunter on a documentary about his recovery from crack cocaine addiction and was alongside him when he turned Congress into a circus last week with a shock hearing appearance.
Morris, a Hollywood lawyer who was seen smoking a bong at his LA home over the summer, was dubbed Hunter’s ‘sugar brother’ after he reportedly paid off up to $5 million for Hunter’s tax bills, housing and legal costs.
Comer did not directly tie Morris to the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden
He also has purchased at least $875,000 worth of Hunter’s amateur artworks.
Hunter’s art dealer George Berges told House GOP investigators that Morris only paid $300,000 for the art, valued at $875,000, and Morris kept the rest of the money as a loan repayment from Hunter.
It was recently revealed Hunter is filming a top-secret documentary with Morris to set the record straight about his battle with addiction to crack cocaine and his financial woes.
