His devoted wife Victoria has been known to make teasing comments about footballer David Beckham’s vanity.

But the former footballer, 48, wasn’t entirely thrilled with the way he looked on the recent four-part Netflix documentary about him.

Sources say there was some unhappiness about his hair, which was shorn before Beckham premiered, and that he was even a little dissatisfied with his handsome face.

One viewer Tweeted: ‘My takeaway from watching…is that David Beckham’s Botox game is in the premier league. And his hair and beard colorist deserves a medal.’

Another wrote: ‘He’s had work done, I suspect. Especially around his eyes. And his hair, beard and eyebrows have all been dyed too dark. He’s naturally fair and should have gone lighter, not darker.’

However the Inter Miami FC owner was sporting a much fuller barnet as he attended the Men’s Cricket World Cup semi-final match in Mumbai in November.

Clearly pleased with his new look, David flashed a beaming smile while walking on the pitch ahead of the match between India and New Zealand.

David was later seen taking selfies with two female spectators before taking a seat beside Bollywood actress Kiara Advani.

The former pro footballer has been in the country on a trip with UNICEF, an agency of the United Nations responsible for providing humanitarian aid to children globally.

David’s new look comes days after he shared a snap with an adorable a baby goat, but it was his thinning locks stealing the show.

He displayed a wholly thinner look to his most recent Instagram selfie, in which he posed alongside fellow football ace Thierry Henry two days before.

It is unclear whether the image was a throwback or if the star – known for his passion for changing hairdos – had once again reached for the clippers.

And David’s four-part documentary which charters his thirty year career showcases all of his interesting looks.

Earlier this year, the fashion icon revealed the only hairstyle he regrets is his cornrows which he wore ahead of a meeting with Nelson Mandela in 2003.

In the documentary, David insists he didn’t get his 2000 buzzcut for the attention and initially refused to take his cap off when Sir Alex Ferguson asked him to.

He said: ‘I never did it to create attention. I’m not that person.’ Sir Alex said: When David shaved his head, I honestly thought a member of my family had died. Because my phone went off. The panic in people’s voices’.
