Cynthia Erivo appeared to throw shade at other stars who auditioned for Ariana Grande’s role in Wicked.
Erivo, who is starring as Elphaba in the upcoming musical movie, said she was grateful that Grande was casted as Glinda the Good Witch rather than the other actresses.
‘Thank goodness, because it was not the two ladies that I was auditioning with,’ Erivo, 37, said in an interview with The New York Times published on Wednesday.
When the pop star was asked about the casting choices, she had a similar response: ‘Thank God.’
This comes shortly after it was revealed that Dove Cameron and Reneé Rapp were among the stars also considered for the part that ended up going to the We Can’t Be Friends hitmaker, 31.
In the same article, Erivo and Grande also spoke about how they both went through serious health setbacks prior to performing major numbers during production.
