Controversial Married At First Sight bride Tayla Winter has pleaded guilty in a residential tenancy dispute matter and was fined $400.

Winter issued a guilty plea at Hobart Magistrates Court on Tuesday for one count of receiving a security deposit from or on behalf of a tenant in relation to a residential tenancy agreement.

The former reality star, 29, is the owner and landlord of a two-bedroom unit in Hobart which she was leasing out to a private tenant.

However, her tenant requested to move and offered to re-let the property to another private renter, and Winter asked them to collect an $1800 bond from them and pass it on to her.

However, this is in breach of Tasmania’s residential tenancy laws, which states that bonds must be handled by a government body and not privately.

The court also heard that Ms. Winter did not return the full bond at the end of the lease, keeping $300 for alleged property damage.

Ms. Winter represented herself and told the court that the damage incurred to the property well exceeded the sum she kept.

Magistrate Chris Webster fined Winter $400 and no conviction was recorded.

Tayla was an intruder bride on the 2023 series of MAFS, where she was paired with IT account executive Hugo Armstrong.

In May last year, she made damning allegations about what really goes on behind the scenes of the controversial dating show.

The TV bride went rogue during an interview with Channel Seven’s Sunrise, claiming she was given an ‘unethical edit’ and that participants were ‘pressured’ by producers to say things which made them uncomfortable.

She even went so far as to claim that one day someone will ‘end their life’ after appearing on the show.

‘The way it’s done is unethical,’ she told Sunrise host Natalie Barr.

‘I think that going into the show, I had no idea how controlled it would be. There is a lot of manipulation and it’s pretty scary.’

Winter claimed several participants from this season have been dealing with relentless online trolling over their villain edits.
