Coleen Rooney has revealed that her father Tony was in the room for the births of all four of her children.

The WAG, 37, shares four sons – Kai, 14, Klay, 10, Kit, seven, and Cass, five – with her former footballer husband Wayne, 38, and has reflected on her pregnancies.

She revealed her parents Tony and Colette were both in the room with her and Wayne when she gave birth to her sons and told how it was important to her.

Speaking on Giovanna Fletcher’s Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast, Coleen said that they always ‘include everyone in the things we do as a family’.

She said: ‘[My dad’s] been in the room for all four of my babies, it’s something that people have not understood at times… he hasn’t gone down the bottom, he’s always stayed at the top.

‘I just wanted him to be there when his grandchildren come into the world. Knowing their love of children, it’s such a happy moment for everyone. I’ve been lucky that the hospital have allowed them to be there.’

Coleen also revealed that her eldest son Kai asked to be there when she gave birth to her fourth child Cass and accompanied them to the hospital.

She clarified that Kai wasn’t in the room when she gave birth, but said he came in just after Cass was born and cut the umbilical cord.

The doting mother explained: ‘[Kai] was just amazed at the whole process of pregnancy and he asked “can I be there when you have the baby?”

‘He wasn’t in the room when I gave birth, because it’s a lovely moment, but it’s not very nice to look at. So he was in the waiting room next door.’

She added: ‘I had Cass and then [Kai] got brought into the room and we said “would you like to cut the cord?” and he did it no problem. I’ve got it on video and watching it back, it’s just a lovely moment.’

Coleen also reflected on having a miscarriage before she welcomed her four sons admitted that Wayne ‘really struggled’ with the devastating news.

Her first of two miscarriages came just months after she and Wayne married in a 14th century abbey in Santa Margherita on the Italian Riviera.

Coleen – who also spoke about her miscarriages in her new book My Account – said Wayne had always wanted a child and struggled after they lost the baby.

She said: ‘Wayne really struggled with it. That’s where I feel like I need to say “it’s not just all about the women, we need to take care of the men as well”. I feel like they get forgotten about.

‘He at one point did say, “I know it’s hard for you, but it’s hard for me as well”. It wasn’t until he said that to me that I realised, “you’re right, it is”. He wanted the baby just as much, if not more, than me.’

Coleen admitted she was much more ‘nervous’ when she became pregnant again, with her eldest son Kai, after her miscarriage.

She went on: ‘I was much more nervous, then [in the first pregnancy] you know the joy of being pregnant overtook the fears but I didn’t really think of the health side of it.

‘You know, obviously I was doing everything by the book and being you know, healthy but obviously, I didn’t really focus on the baby’s health as much. Second time around, it was constantly on my mind.

‘And I did go and get more regular checks and more scans than I ever should have. The record amounts of scans I think and it shouldn’t be like that, you know it just it kept me sane and happy.’

Coleen later had a second devastating miscarriage after giving birth to her two eldest sons Kai and Klay.

Of her second miscarriage, she wrote in her book My Account: ‘It’s devastating when something like this happens; of course it is. My feelings about it this time were slightly different, though.

‘I knew I had two healthy boys and that I’d most likely be able to have another when the time was right. I wasn’t as nervous going forward.’
