CNN pundit Scott Jennings was shockingly shut down when he tried to bring up DailyMail.com’s exclusive story about Doug Emhoff assaulting his ex-girlfriend, as well as his behavior at his law firm.
The Second Gentleman, 59, allegedly struck the woman in the face so hard she spun around, while waiting in a valet line late at night after a May 2012 Cannes Film Festival event in France.
One of her friends told DailyMail.com that the woman called him immediately after the incident, sobbing in her cab, and described the alleged assault.
Jennings, a conservative foil to the often liberal loaded CNN panels, tried to discuss the story earlier Wednesday when pointing out rapper Eminem – who has long been accused of misogyny in his lyrics – was endorsing Harris.
‘So when you think about the things [Eminem] has said in order to sell those records, and you also consider some of the questions that are swirling around Harris’ own husband in this regard,’ Jennings said, before liberal Bakari Sellers interrupted him.
‘Oh my god,’ Sellers said. ‘Okay, you don’t even get 12 seconds. I’m not gonna let you go into the far end of B.S.’
Host Abby Phillip then refused to take the allegations seriously, comparing them to those against Donald Trump.
‘We’re gonna stop here for a second. Alright, but Scott, I just have to say, I’ll take those concerns seriously if you also express concerns about the allegations [against Trump],’ she said.
‘He’s been found liable of rape, Donald Trump has. So that’s also true, so we’re not going to litigate those other things, but you can’t just pick and choose.’
DailyMail.com is not naming the woman, who is a successful New York attorney, but will refer to her by the pseudonym ‘Jane’.
A second friend said Jane, who had been dating Emhoff for three months, also told her about the alleged violence at the time.
A third friend told DailyMail.com that Jane first told her in 2014 that she had dated Emhoff, and recounted the full story of his alleged abuse in 2018, when then senator Harris was in the news after grilling Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in a Senate hearing over sexual assault allegations.
The friends, who all asked not to be named for fear of retaliation by Emhoff, shared with DailyMail.com pictures of him and Jane together from 2012, and other documents and communications corroborating elements of the story.
Jane declined to comment.
The shocking claims follow revelations by DailyMail.com that Emhoff cheated on his first wife and mother of his two kids around 2008, allegedly impregnating his daughter’s nanny who also worked as her grade school teacher.
Emhoff admitted the affair with the nanny and teacher, Najen Naylor, after DailyMail.com published the story last month.
All three of Jane’s friends said she also told them about a disturbing alleged incident during her relationship with the Second Gentleman, in which Emhoff nonchalantly admitted to impregnating Naylor.
Emhoff told Jane that the nanny accused him of causing her to have a miscarriage, the friends claimed.
According to the friends, Emhoff did not say how he was allegedly responsible for the miscarriage, and he told Jane that the nanny’s claims were false.
But the Second Gentleman allegedly confessed to Jane that he paid Naylor a settlement of around $80,000, and had the nanny sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA).
Emhoff was previously dubbed by Democrats as a ‘wife guy’ and a ‘mensch’, a Yiddish term for an honorable, kind man. He has also spoken out in media interviews about being an ally to women and against toxic masculinity.
Five days later, Emhoff was accused of being ‘inappropriate’ and ‘misogynistic’ at work, his former colleagues tell DailyMail.com.
Attorneys who worked with Doug Emhoff at his former firm Venable say he yelled expletives, held a men-only cocktail hour in the office, revoked work perks from women who didn’t flirt with him, and took only young, attractive associates in a limousine to a ball.
A 2019 lawsuit also claimed sex discrimination by other partners in the LA office Emhoff ran, and that while engaged to Harris, he hired an ‘unqualified’ part-time model as a legal secretary ‘because she was young, attractive and friendly with the powerful men in the office’.
In August DailyMail.com revealed the Los Angeles lawyer cheated on his first wife and got his daughter’s grade school teacher-cum-nanny pregnant.
Emhoff admitted to the affair after the story broke.
Four days after DailyMail.com contacted Emhoff for comment, a spokesperson reportedly denied the allegations as ‘untrue’ in a statement to politics website Semafor.
Neither he nor the White House have commented to any other media, including DailyMail.com.
