CNN’s Scott Jennings revealed how a liberal guest made him cringe with her embarrassing attempt to justify President Joe Biden’s decision to pardon his son.
Jennings, who has become known for his dissonance from the network’s progressive stance, described the exchange with commentator Leigh McGowan.
McGowan suggested that Biden was right to pardon his son Hunter Biden’s felony gun and tax convictions because Donald Trump, ‘is talking about using firing squads’.
The outlandish justification prompted a visible eye-roll by Jennings during the panel which was broadcast earlier this month.
And in an essay for The Spectator, Jennings describes how he rolled his eyes, ‘so hard I nearly break my neck’.
McGowan was seeking to justify Biden’s decision to pardon his son despite previously vowing not to.
‘I believe the circumstances have changed. I think we now have a president who is coming into office who is talking about firing squads, who is talking about running people around the country and making sure anyone who is his enemy is going to be punished,’ McGowan said.
CNN ‘s Scott Jennings revealed the liberal outburst that made him cringe this year was when a guest attempted to justify President Joe Biden ‘s decision to pardon his son Hunter
Jennings, who has become known for his dissonance from the network’s officially progressive stance, described the exchange with commentator Leigh McGowan
She was possibly referring to previous reports in Rolling Stone the president-elect was mulling whether to expand the use of firing squads as part of the death penalty if he secured the White House.
The reports were attributed to two Trump insiders, who claimed that the president-elect was also weighing up the possibility of group executions to, ‘help put the fear of God into violent criminals’.
However the claims have since been denied by Trump, who has not disclosed any such plans.
‘Hunter Biden lied about his drug use on a government form,’ McGowan continued.
‘He failed to file and pay taxes when he was a drug addict. He paid back those taxes with interest.
‘Donald Trump himself was indicted for 17 counts of criminal tax fraud, more than Hunter and he is going to be the president of the United States.’
Writing about the exchange, Jennings later said: ‘I wonder – would a pardon really stop someone who planned a firing squad?’
The anecdote was recalled as part of the essay, titled: ‘My top 2024 takeaways by Scott Jennings, CNN’s ‘Black Sheep’.
McGowan suggested that Trump was plotting to use firing squads against Hunter Biden prompting an incredulous response from Jennings
Jennings has become known for his political dissonance with his CNN colleagues and guests
Jennings told of his delight at being given the nickname by DailyMail.com. He has quickly become a CNN favorite for his scathing takedowns of liberal excess.
In the essay he revels in ‘triggering’ White Dudes for Kamala’s Paul Rieckhoff as well as an ‘unhinged’ comedian.
Most notably this year he delivered a monologue which cut to the heart of why the left performed so disastrously in the election.
‘The revenge of the regular ol’ working class American, who has been crushed, insulted, condescended to — they’re not garbage, they’re not Nazis, they’re just regular people who get up and go to work every day and are trying to make a better life for their kids and they feel like they have been told to just shut up,’ Jennings stated.
‘The Black Sheep’s 2024 takeaway? The American people are tired of having the wool pulled over their eyes by Democrats,’ he concluded in the essay.
Jennings also revealed his close friendships with famous Democrats David Axelrod and Van Jones in a bid to remind Americans that’s healthy to have friends with differing views.
