Cher has had a busy month promoting her tell-all memoir Cher: The Memoir, Part One in New York, before jetting over to London.

In her memoir, Cher detailed what her marriage to the late Sonny Bono was like, revealing he had ‘manhandled’ her at times and at one point, ‘seriously thought about’ killing her.

She wrote she felt trapped in the loveless marriage from 1969 to 1975, which produced their son Chaz Bono as well as their pop duo Sonny & Cher and their eponymous variety show in the 1970s.

The Moonstruck actress wrote she was at times suicidal during the marriage and to make matters worse, Bono stole all her money.

‘I could never get him to give me an answer that was real for me, enough,’ Cher told Stern. ‘I said, “At what point, what time of the day or the night, or what were you doing when you thought, I’m gonna take Cher’s money?”‘

She added, ‘He wanted to be Sonny & Cher more than anything. He loved that time.’

Stern expressed his outrage, saying at times he wanted to ‘strangle’ him.

Cher did share one explanation Sonny gave her for why he’d taken her money. ‘His answer was, “Because I know you’d always leave me.”‘

‘But what kind of answer is that?” Stern said, again expressing outrage on Cher’s behalf.

Cher also teased new music during a recent appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

At one point amid the interview, she was asked whether there will be ‘another album’ by the host.

Without giving anything away, the singer simply replied: ‘I’m about to.’

The chart-topping star – who released her debut solo album, All I Really Want to Do, in 1965 – revealed that she never imagined that she’d still be working at her age.

She told The Guardian: ‘I never thought about getting this old and still having a job!’

Despite this, Cher doesn’t have any plans to quit the music business anytime soon.

She said: ‘Barbra Streisand once asked me, “Why are you still working?” And I said, “Because some day I won’t be able to.” So, for as long as I can work, I will.’
