Landing the role of host on Saturday Night Live is a milestone moment in any celebrity’s career, but some lucky A-listers get the chance to do it more than once.
The SNL Five-Timers Club is a group of well-known faces who have hosted the much-loved NBC show at least five times.
It makes sense that the biggest names in film and music are the ones who get to take the reins, especially when they get to showcase their talents – such as actor Timothee Chalamet, who fronted the program last month and performed a tribute to the legendary Bob Dylan.
But before these singers, actors and comedians were hosting one of the most successful live television shows, they were just regular high schools students with dreams of making it big.
In fact, certain five-timers probably could never have dreamed that they would land such a gig when they were still studying for exams and posing for their yearbook photos.
One five-timer in particular wasn’t even born when Saturday Night Live first aired on the small screen back in October 1975 – and many of them were just young children at the time.
SNL will celebrate it’s 50th anniversary on February 16 with a special Radio City Music Hall concert, and who knows, maybe some members of the Five-Timers Club will make a special appearance.
Here, FEMAIL looks back at the A-listers who have been lucky enough to return to Saturday Night Live more than once, but can you guess who they are from their yearbook photos?
This award-winning actor has hosted Saturday Night Live a whopping 17 times

This Hollywood actor is pictured here in his senior year at Alfred G. Berner High School in 1976
This Hollywood actor and father-of-eight became a member of the Five-Timer Club quite some time ago.
He has actually hosted Saturday Night Live a total of 17 times, which is the most appearances for one host to date.
The celebrity in question made his first appearance on April 21, 1990, and by the new millennium he had already hosted the program eight times.
It’s none other than Glengarry Glen Ross actor Alec Baldwin, who has received numerous accolades throughout his career including three Primetime Emmy Awards and three Golden Globe Awards.
Throughout the years, Baldwin, 66, has impersonated the likes of Al Pacino, Marlon Brando and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on SNL.
On September 29, 2016, it was announced that Baldwin would be playing Donald Trump for season 42, where he made his first appearance as Trump for the season premiere of the show.
He appeared in every episode of that season except for the November 12, 2016 episode, December 10, 2016 episode, and the January 21, 2017 episode.
Baldwin continued to play Trump through seasons 43, 44, 45, and 46, though his appearances got scaled back season by season due to his busy schedule, and season 46 was the last season for Baldwin to play Trump.

This well-known actress was the youngest person to ever host Saturday Night Live at just seven years old

This actress, seen here in 7th grade at California Preparatory School in 1987, is the youngest ever person to host SNL
There’s only one member of the SNL Five-Timers Club who can say they hosted the show at the tender age of seven.
This particular actress grew up in Hollywood and was practically born into acting.
She has hosted SNL a total of six times to date and her first stint on November 20, 1982, made her the youngest person ever to host SNL.
During her time on SNL, this celeb has impersonated an array of stars including Charlize Theron, Courtney Love, and Victoria Beckham.
Indeed, it is Never Been Kissed star Drew Barrymore – who was thrust into the limelight at the age of seven when she starred in the 1982 movie E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.
Barrymore last hosted SNL on October 10, 2009, but she has been impersonated on the program more recently including on the April 7, 2012 episode during the ‘Bein’ Quirky with Zooey Deschanel’ sketch.
Speaking about SNL last year, the mother-of-two said: ‘For me the institution of Saturday Night Live is probably something that has been a huge part of my survival, my joy, my aspirations.’

He even received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series and was with SNL for three seasons.
It’s the one and only Bill Murray, who has starred in a plethora of movies including Ghostbusters, Caddyshack, and Little Shop of Horrors.
Murray’s time on SNL hasn’t bene without drama and on February 18, 1978, Chevy Chase became the first former cast member to host and when Murray met Chase, he tried to make things as clear as possible.
This caused a fistfight just minutes before the show started which Laraine Newman tried to stop, but luckily, Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi stopped it. The two men pulled together to create one of the best shows of the season.
Back in December 2024, Murray, 74, defended the current cast of SNL from critics who claimed the show had gotten ‘lousy.’
‘People always give me a hard time about, “Oh, the original show was so great and it’s lousy now”. And I say, “No, it’s not.” The show that’s on now, they do stuff that’s just as good as anybody ever did, all the time.’

This actress has been nominated for an Emmy award every time she hosted SNL and won in 2017

This comedic actress is seen here in her Sophomore Year at St. Francis Academy in 1986
Best-known for her comedic roles in the world of film, this actress became a member of the Five-Timers Club in May 2017.
She made her SNL hosting debut on October 1, 2011, the second episode of Season 37, with musical guests Lady Antebellum.
The celeb in question has been nominated for an Emmy award every time she hosted SNL and eventually won it in 2017.
It’s the hilarious Melissa McCarthy, who has starred in movies such as Bridesmaids, Identity Thief, and The Heat.
As well as hosting SNL, McCarthy has also made four cameo appearances as Sean Spicer, during the ‘Sean Spicer Press Conference’ sketch on February 4, 2017, February 11, 2017, April 15, 2017 and May 13, 2017.
Back in 2022, McCarthy opened up about one time on SNL when she felt most nervous – it was when she got the chance to wear Chris Farley’s actual jacket while she was parodying his famous Matt Foley character in the show’s 40th anniversary special in 2015.
‘It was the one time right before I came through the door, I was so nervous,’ she told Andy Cohen in a SiriusXM interview.
‘The sweet stage manager came up and he goes, “Honey, are you okay?” My legs were bouncing to the point where I couldn’t, I was holding onto the door.
‘And I was like, “I don’t know if I can get the handle open.” Because I couldn’t, I was not in control of my body. And I’ve never done that before. I was just rattled,’ McCarthy, 54, added.

Unfortunately, the celeb in question hasn’t hosted since 1999 or made a cameo since 2011 – but when asked in an interview if he would return, he said he’d do so ‘in a second’.
It’s the one and only Danny DeVito – star of Matilda, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and television series Taxi.
The It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star has been impersonated on SNL a few times, but he apparently ‘attacked’ Bobby Moynihan for his impression.
Moynihan did an impression of the actor twice during his time on the cast of the NBC sketch show: once during a November 2015 episode where he parodied DeVito, 80, in a Star Wars audition and again during another episode that same season for a Nespresso parody.
‘Right after I played him on the show — that night, directly after the show, I had two of my buddies Mike and Rob, from high school with me. And I get them to the party and we pull up to the party and it’s the coolest,’ Moynihan explained to Seth Meyers in 2022 interview.
‘And I walk past a car and get, like, yanked,’ he revealed, adding that his first thought was that he was being assaulted.
However, turns out it was DeVito, who yelled, ‘You think it’s funny playing me?!’ but was only joking and then told him: ‘I love ya, kid.’

He returned to SNL to host for the second time on December 11, 2010, the ninth episode and the Holidays show of Season 36 with musical guest Sir Paul McCartney.
It’s the one and only Paul Rudd – star of hit movies such as Clueless, Ant-Man, and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.
Rudd, 55, opened up about the first time he hosted in a 2023 interview with David Spade and Dana Carvey for an episode of the Fly on the Wall podcast.
‘The first time was on total adrenaline and was so crazy,’ Rudd admitted.
‘I remember feeling so exhausted when we finished the dress rehearsal and then I thought, “Oh my God, I have to do this again.”.
‘It was also really weird for me because… the first time I hosted was two weeks or so, almost three weeks, after my father had died.
‘So, I was in this state of complete — I was mourning — I was also kind of half there, but I was so excited to host SNL. The entire experience was just kind of out of body,’ he added.

It’s Forrest Gump actor Tom Hanks, who has also starred in blockbuster hits such as The Green Mile, Saving Private Ryan, and Cast Away.
During his fifth time hosting, Hanks said in his monologue: ‘Believe it or not, this is the fifth Saturday Night Live I have been lucky enough to host. Now, the first time you do the show, you can’t believe you’re here. You just can’t believe it. Your head buzzes with excitement.
‘The second time you do the show, it means you were funny enough to be asked back – and you’re pushing a movie. The third time you do the show, the second time didn’t go so well, and you have something to prove to yourself.
‘The fourth time you do the show, you’re just blatantly pushing a movie. But the fifth time you do the show is the most special time of all, because you get this…a membership card in the Five-Timers Club,’ he added, as he held up a card.
At the end of last year, Hanks sparked concerns for his health when viewers noticed his hands were shaking during the December 21 episode of SNL.

The skit saw him, Bobby Moynihan, and Andy Samberg dressed in black leotards as they portrayed the singer’s backup dancers as she performed her song Single Ladies.
When it came to this sketch idea with Beyoncé, Timberlake has previously said the Destiny’s Child star was not initially on board.
‘She was very polite about it, but she was very hesitant. And when I say hesitant, I mean like, she was not having it,’ he recalled. ‘I’m like: “Does she know how funny this is gonna be? How beloved this whole moment will be?”‘

He has also co-hosted the show with Chevy Chase and Martin Short.
In 2006, a sketch featuring Martin and Baldwin introduced the Platinum Lounge, featuring only hosts that have hosted the show at least twelve times, on the occasion of Baldwin’s 13th time hosting the show.
Short appeared as a waiter, as he would during many subsequent Five-Timers Club sketches.

It’s Woody Harrelson – star of TV sitcom Cheers and movies including Natural Born Killers, No Country for Old Men, and Now You See Me.
Harrelson, 63, caused controversy when he hosted SNL for the fifth time two years ago and joked that drug companies had plotted the COVID-19 pandemic.
When asked about the backlash, he said: ‘Well, people told me it was, shall we say, trending. No, I don’t look at that s**t. I feel like, I said it on SNL.
‘I don’t need to go further with it… other than to say — well, no, I won’t. Never mind. That’s enough.… But it don’t change my life one bit. Not one bit, if the mainstream media wants to have a go at you, right? My life is still wonderful,’ he added.
