Camryn Manheim is moving on from Law & Order after three seasons as part of the main cast of the long-running series.
The actress joined the flagship as Lieutenant Kate Dixon when the show was revived by NBC for season 21 in 2021.
Her character served as a replacement for the character Anita Van Buren (S. Epatha Merkerson), who left following season 20.
‘I thank Camryn for her three wonderful seasons helping us relaunch Law & Order,’ creator Dick Wolf said in a statement to Variety. ‘She is a class act, and I wish her nothing but the best for her next chapter.’
Manheim officially bids farewell to her character and the show when she appears in her 48th and final episode that’s scheduled to air as the season finale on NBC on May 16.
Camryn Manheim, 63, will not be returning as Lieutenant Kate Dixon for season 24 of the police procedural and legal drama series Law & Order
Manheim (born Debra Frances Manheim) has actually had a long-running relationship with the show that dates back to a guest starring role in the first season back in 1991.
She would return for more guest spots, playing different characters, on the series in both 1993 and 1994.
All three of her appearances on Law & Order marked her first three role of her television career.
Along with her main role on the flagship, Manheim has also appeared as Kate Dixon in a recurring capacity on Law & Order: Organized Crime and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit since 2022.
The West Caldwell, New Jersey native first gained recognition as an actress with her off-Broadway one-woman show Wake Up, I’m Fat (1994).
Many fans know Manheim for her portrayals of Ellenor Frutt on legal drama series The Practice (1997-2004) and Delia Banks on the supernatural series Ghost Whisperer (2006-2010) and as Control on the science fiction crime drama Person Of Interest (2013-2015)
Manheim’s exit from the series comes just a few months after Sam Waterston stepped down after appearing in 405 episodes as District Attorney Jack McCoy.
His final appearance came earlier in season 23 in an episode that aired on February 22.

Set and shot in New York City, Law & Order has followed a two-part approach to each episode, with the first half-hour focused on the investigation of a crime and apprehension of a suspect by police detectives, while the second half showcases the prosecution of the defendant by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
Rick Eid serves as showrunner of Law & Order, which is produced by Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television, with executive producers Dick Wolf, Pamela Wechsler, Alex Hall, Arthur Forney and Peter Jankowski.
