Cameron Daddo has recalled the moment he knew he was falling in love with his future wife Alison Brahe.
The couple have one of the longest marriages in showbiz after tying the knot in 1992.
In his forthcoming memoir, Keep It Smooth Life Lessons In Confidence, the actor writes about their first weekend away together in the fishing town Yamba to celebrate the top model’s 21st birthday.
During the trip, Alison sustained some pretty hefty injuries following a boating trip that went awry.
The pair were enjoying a romantic fishing trip on the Clarence River until heavy winds forced them to head back home.
The Dolly cover girl was injured as they attempted to get the Daddo’s Riviera-style cruiser out of the water, onto the boat ramp and in a trailer at the back of his car.
The strong winds and choppy waters pushed Brahe downwind from Daddo and she was ‘fighting hard’ to keep the boat off the shore.
‘She had naively but bravely put herself between the boat and the shore which would have given even the hardest of men fits,’ Daddo writes in his book. ‘Her slight frame was thumped by the hull as each wave crashed into its opposite side. The look of relief (or was it WTF?!) she gave me as I appeared, I’ll never forget.’

When Daddo later saw ‘s golden girl covered in welts and bruises he was in shock.
‘Ali was exiting a hot shower when I caught sight of her naked hip and back – it looked like a hot mess of purple and red welts!’ he writes.
He yelled out asking if she’d seen her back and when she’d sustained the injuries.
‘Holding your boat off the ramp. You’re welcome,’ she told him as she continued to dry herself off.
‘Not a word of complaint, not a scratch on the boat, but Ali’s actions that afternoon that helped me understand that this gorgeously funny, brave and resilient woman was my person,’ Daddo adds in the book.

‘At the time, it felt like Ali was omnipresent as the cover girl queen of Dolly, Cleo and Cosmo magazines,’ he writes in the book.
‘It seemed liked every newsagent had a poster out the front with her megawatt smile and sparkling eyes.
A magazine photographer asked Daddo if he’d met her and arranged their eventual meeting in a nightclub.
‘I was instantly struck by her sparkling aura; she confessed she’d had couple of vodka tonics. We chatted for an hour and I promised to call her the next day – which I did. I don’t think we spent many days apart after that,’ he recalls.
‘After almost 33 years of marriage, I am so grateful and fortunate to walk with Ali. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. And her laugh is still one of the most pleasing things I know.
