Olympian and reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner has announced in a press conference Monday that she supports a local order banning transgender women from competing in women’s sports.

Jenner joined Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman in Mineola as he announced the ban on biological males competing in women’s sports at county facilities.

The new law applies to all sports, including college level, but does not include co-ed teams or cases where biological females wish to play men’s sports.

As per the directive from the county executive, any league or team requesting permission to utilize any of the over 100 county facilities must declare that they are excluding transgender athletes from participating on females’ teams.

‘I have been around sports my entire life,’ Jenner said. ‘I have witnessed the growth and opportunity and protection in women’s sports, specifically in this country with the adoption of Title IV in 1972.’

‘I have shared my struggle that I have dealt with my entire life with gender dysphoria. I decided to live my life publicly…as a trans person.’

‘I have empathy for all LGBT people and I have a thorough understanding of all the struggles no matter how different our circumstances may be.’

Jenner recognized that the judicial systems and other executive legislative bodies are unsure how to handle the issue of transgender athletes in sports.

The former decathlon champion said that there were ‘massive advantages and undeniable differences’ when it came to the biological realities that ‘lead to physical harm when trans women, or biological males, compete in sports against women.’

She continued by saying the Biden administration is calling an amendment to Title IV, in effect erases the protection and the hard fought battles in sports for females.

The New York Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit, claiming that the state’s human rights and civil laws are broken by the policy.

The president of the LGBT Network responded in a statement saying ‘Caitlyn Jenner’s support for anti-LGBT initiatives stands as a baffling contradiction to her own identity and the struggles she has faced as a transgender woman.

‘Embracing policies or ideologies that undermine the rights and dignity of LGBTQ+ individuals is not only hypocritical but also harmful.’

The ban is believed to be the first of its kind in the United States.
