Now, she wants answers

Friends and family of a father-of-two who plunged to his death while being chased by cops are calling for ‘justice’.

Cain Cameron, 36, died after ‘falling’ from a five-storey car park in Werribee – west of Melbourne – last week.

Victoria Police claimed Mr Cameron was driving a van they had been pursuing with the assistance of the Air Wing on Thursday evening.

It is understood Mr Cameron had been suspected of an aggravated carjacking in Hoppers Crossing on October 22 and failed to stop when officers attempted to pull him over.

The van was then followed to Duncans Road in Werribee and was seen entering the Holiday Inn car park, where it was believed Mr Cameron fell from the fifth floor about 10.30pm.

‘There’s more to it,’ a friend of Mr Cameron’s claimed on social media.

‘I know Cain Cameron, he wouldn’t jump.’

A fundraiser that has already collected close to $10,000 for Mr Cameron’s family cast further suspicion on how the beloved dad came to die.

‘Cain deserves to have justice and the family deserve the truth,’ the GoFundMe page states.

Mr Cameron’s long-term partner Emily Edwards said the father of her children ‘deserves justice’.

Taking to social media, Ms Edwards described Mr Cameron as the love of her life, tattooing his name on her body.

‘I’m so bloody numb, we were only just laying down together and you dropped me at the shop and were coming back to get me and then you called me,’ she wrote.

‘I didn’t want to lose you again to this stupid petty s**t you kept doing.’

Friends and family of Cain Cameron believe he never would have jumped

Images posted to social media suggest Mr Cameron had his fair share of run-ins with the law, with some photos showing him wearing prison greens.

‘I wish you listened to us when your mum, your sister, your brother and so many others said you were better than this lifestyle, but we both could never seem to get past it. There was always something that got in our way and so many times it was so hard but we never gave up on each other ever,’ Ms Edwards wrote.

Mr Cameron’s shattered partner described the tragic last moment she saw him alive.

‘Our last call I will never stop playing in my head, our last moments of you looking down at me waving. I promise you I’ve got you Cain and I wish I could’ve got up there to hug you one last time,’ she wrote.

‘You are the love of my life Cain Brian Cameron I don’t know how I’m gonna do this without you.  I’ve never felt so much heartache and pain ever I wish it was all a dream.’

Witnesses to Mr Cameron’s death have described scenes of chaos in the immediate aftermath.

‘There were multiple police there, including CIU when this happened. I said, “Get him an ambulance; he’s injured”. They told me to “move on”,’ one witness told Wyndham TV.

‘There was no assistance given while I was there. They were all just standing around him, rolling him over and back, then they tried to sit him up.’

The local news outlet reported seeing Mr Cameron alive while handcuffed to an ambulance about 10.16pm.

At 11.27pm the ambulance was seen pulling into a nearby laneway.

When it emerged at 11.42pm, Mr Cameron’s body was observed dumped at the entrance of the motel car park covered in tarps.

Mr Cameron’s brother Greg told reporters at the scene he was ‘disgusted’ with how his brother was treated.

‘It’s pretty hard to wrap your head around,’ he said.

‘I was walking past, it was just by coincidence (he) was there. His treatment was absolutely disgusting. He’s a good family man.

‘Hopefully the truth gets told (about) what happened here.’

A Victoria Police spokesperson could provide no further updates on its investigation on Monday.

Detectives from the Homicide Squad are investigating the incident with oversight from its internal Professional Standards Command.
