She is considering an offer to join Nova FM as the station’s Sydney newsreader, according to Media Diary.

The presenter left the Today show shortly after the Paris Olympics.

However, Boney may face stiff competition for the position.

TV veteran Abbey Gelmi – who joined the ABC six months ago to host Offsiders following Kelli Underwood’s six-year tenure – is also reportedly on Nova’s shortlist.

In August last year, Boney became teary-eyed as she was given an emotional farewell on the Today show.

The news and entertainment reporter, who began working with the breakfast show in January 2019, gave a heartfelt statement live on-air.

‘I’d like to say thank you to the audience for accepting me. I’m grateful to everyone for tuning in every day,’ she began.

‘It’s a privilege to go over to Oxford. But it is even more of one that I have got this much love around me. It makes it difficult to leave.’

The veteran presenter added that her appointment on the show was a huge milestone for Indigenous ns, and thanked the team for taking a chance on her.

‘Today was the first breakfast show in the country to put an Aboriginal person on as a full-time host. Now it is a very normal thing to do in this time slot. I’m proud of that.’

In March 2024, Boney shocked viewers when she announced her resignation live on air telling viewers she was exiting her role after the Olympics.

Boney admitted the decision to leave her role on the program was ‘really difficult’.

‘It’s been a dream of mine to be able to study at an overseas university, and it just felt like the right time to take that step,’ she explained.
