A British woman has been found knifed to death in her Italian home, with her murder sending shockwaves through her ‘Little England’ expat community.
The victim, 66, who has not been named, was found with stab wounds to her stomach by her friend inside her rural home near Casoli, a town in eastern Italy, this morning.
Cops are now searching for her husband, who is also British, after he allegedly left the scene in the family car before police could question him, reports la Repubblica.
The woman’s lifeless body was discovered in a pool of blood by a concerned friend who had travelled from the nearby commune of Palombara, where 100 British expats live, after they called her this morning but received no response.
Her friend had not heard from her friend for three days and had become increasingly concerned so decided to check up on her, police said.
Neighbours said they heard the victim’s friend screaming in horror at finding the 66-year-old in a pool of blood and called the police who arrived at the home in the countryside near Abruzzo village.

Cops are now desperately searching for the woman’s husband who apparently left in the family car.
The couple had been living in the house in the countryside near Palombara for about three years and were described by local residents as ‘very private’. They were often seen walking through the surrounding countryside with their three dogs.
Medical examiners are also running forensic tests to investigate how long the victim was deceased before she was discovered by her heartbroken friend.
