A British tourist was killed in a horror motorcycle crash as he rode without a helmet while holidaying in Thailand.

Regan Kelly, 28, from London, lost control of his rented motorcycle and crashed through the guardrails along the curved Wichit Songkhram Road in Phuket on January 4.

Terrifying CCTV footage shows the rider, who had not been wearing a helmet, skidding across the pavement before plunging down the 20ft slope.

Regan – who also went by the name Corey Gorge Beavis – suffered severe head injuries after smashing into a metal pipe on the way down.

Police Captain Adisorn Juhong of the Kathu District Police Station said officers dashed to the scene after receiving a report at 7:30am.

He said: ‘The deceased was a 28-year-old British man. His name was Corey Gorge Beavis but he was also known as Regan.

‘The autopsy result is pending, so we do not yet know the cause of the accident’.

An FCDO spokesperson said: ‘We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Thailand and are in contact with the local authorities.’

Regan’s cousin Larysa Rose said he had been missing since January 2.

She wrote in a Phuket Facebook group online: ‘My cousin Regan has been missing since 2nd of January and we can’t get in contact with him.

‘This is really out of character and we’re concerned for his welfare. He was staying at Mad Monkey Hostel in Patong, Phuket. Wearing Mad Monkey t-shirt.

‘His phone has been off and no one has spoken to him for three days. He has been in touch with his Dad everyday since he left to travel.’

Following the discovery of Regan’s body, Larysa added: ‘Unfortunately he has been found but not how we expected him to be.

‘I can’t believe I’m even writing this. My little cousin, this wasn’t supposed to happen.

‘We had our next trip to Spain already booked and planned. You have gone way too soon.’

Regan had been wearing a light blue short-sleeved shirt, light blue shorts, white sneakers, and a light green wristband when he was found.

The Honda ADV motorcycle he was driving was seen lying sideways on the road in near perfect condition.

Rescue volunteers have taken his body to the Vachira Phuket Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Locals said the road was accident-prone because it was curved and not many drivers were familiar with it.

The crash is the latest involving tourist drivers in Thailand.

On January 2, American backpacker Philip Edward MC Morrow, 37, killed a pedestrian when he crashed into her on his dirt bike in Chiang Mai province.

The Thai woman was flung across the pavement and suffered severe injuries. She later died at the hospital.
